Time for a new ride. Currently in a 2018 G30 540 m sport with the Luxury Multi Contoured Seats. I’m ready to get that M4 but those seats, ugh they hurt. The side bolsters just dig in my thighs hard. 38 inch waist, 5’ 10 and 220. How in the world are you guys driving with these seats without squeezing your buddies to avoid that? Seriously, I really want the car, but the seats seem like a deal breaker. Any advice here? I’d hate to leave BMW as the G60 is not for me and I need a better driving experience.

You’re saying the comfort seats are hard or do you mean the carbon buckets??

Both are very comfortable to most. If you find them uncomfortable, there’s nothing you can really do but look at other models.

The carbon seats make me feel like I’m in a baby car seat 😂. The standard seats, I just wish they were a hair wider.

I’m 6’2”, 220 with 38” waist. Fit no problem in either seat. My son is 6’5”, 250 and he fits as well.

Did you adjust the side bolsters out?

Also, maybe try an M3?

I was told they are fixed. I didn’t see anyway to move these. I’m talking about where your thighs rest against. I don’t believe these are movable.

The non-bucket seat bolsters are very adjustable.

I’m talking about the shaded part here. I open my legs relaxed when driving and those bolsters are digging. I don’t think they are adjustable.

I have very very thick legs 5’9 250 (38-40 waist) . I have an m3 tho. I feel fine in the standard seats. Once I’m in my desired driving position I don’t get out of the car feeling any discomfort. Maybe try an m3 and adjust the seat to your liking

Ahhh I usually keep my left leg slightly up when I’m just cruising. Try that maybe

Honestly, if the comfort/standard seats are uncomfortable and not wide enough in the bottom and side thigh area, I think this car probably isn't for your build. Perhaps an M5 or X5M?

I looked at the M60 and I just do too much driving for a suv. I prefer a coupe/sedan, my wallet can’t do an m5. I’ve actually driven both the new E Class and Cle. Didn’t want to leave BMW, but I got to give them an edge atleast on the E vs 5. Appreciate the input 👍

M5s and M8s depreciate substantially if used is an option

I had a pre-LCI M50i and you'd be surprised how fun it was given it was an SUV.

I'd at least try and drive one, or maybe look into a used M550i

I find that my left leg is on top of that bolster most of the time in any vehicle... but realized that I just tend to sit anchored in a way where I try to get my ass toward the middle of the vehicle naturally (I should be driving a McLaren F1 I guess). I expect you will either get used to it or make some adjustment.

5 series seat are less aggressive, so it's probably just the taller bolster that is coming into play with the lower coupe-y driving position in an M4.

I do wish they were adjustable like they are in Porsche Sport+ seats.
