White Fluid Residue on exterior of secondard Cat

Had the car up on the lift yesterday to do a resonator delete and saw this white dried residue on the right secondary catalytic converter. Has anyone else seen this before or know what this could be from?

Coolant reservoir is above that area. Could be that. Open the hood and take a look.

There seems to be residue on the metal brackets above it as well, I'm betting the coolant leaking is accurate

If Swank is right, then looks like they might have spilled some coolant while filling the reservoir.

Thank you all for the responses, will take a look after work. I know the car did get in an accident the day I bought it causing coolant to leak. All has been repaired since then and they had to refill the coolant during the repairs. Will keep a closer eye on it and monitor.

Wash it off and see if it comes back. Check the coolant level cold too and see what’s up.

You could reach out to the OP of this thread and ask them if they had any coolant leaks or other issues that led to this similar problem with their car. Based on the underside pic in their thread, their right side CAT has the same residue, but less of it.

Initially I was going to say it could simply be sprayed down cleaner that techs will sometimes do on and around the oil filter housing after changing the filter so that it cleans any drips, but it doesn’t really line up as that’s kind of on the left side of the engine, but maybe closer to middle back. I guess if they spray down at an angle, maybe it shoots down to the CAT on the passenger size. It’s a reach, but also a possibility.
