Are the exhaust valves open all the time now? I tried the pipe button but did not hear any difference and no click from the valves. Will try that later too. Anyway, thanks for the guidance👍 |

I did not mean them to be open all times, I ment if they now are stuck closed or stuck open, with the ADS turned off with the deactivation I just did?

It doesn’t affect the physical control of the valves at all, it seems that way because most of the sound you were hearing before was actually fake.

Regarding the valves - noted! I cannot hear any difference at all when pressing the exhaust button on the console while driving. Engine in Sport+. But when making a start of the engine I can hear a difference when pressing the button the first five seconds before it drops in RPM. I can also hear the valves clicking when on iddle so they seem to work, just no difference inside the car. |

I have coded it off with the guidedance from Chris3g, as you might have seen in this tread (the normal way like you did in Bimmercode did not work for me). The difference is huge, you cannot be mistaken if coded it off or not. You hear it immidiate when starting the engine.

I did what Murf describes. 1) selected disable ASD (the option to "code" the change appeared) 2) deactivated the code via the three dots at top right (exported a copy of the code first as directed by the app) 3) went back to the previous screen and hit "code". This worked. No ASD at any time. Burbles when valve is open via the native button. Sounds GREAT. Thanks for all the insight, y'all. One question though. I've got this code exported. When an update for iDrive comes through, will the missing code cause an issue? PS, I didn't even try ONLY disabling ASD (step 1 & 3 without step 2) to see if that worked. I guess I could go back and reactivate the code to check. But wanted to see if you three (or anyone else for that matter) had any insight on this. Thanks in advance! |

steps 1 + 3 don't do anything on the current software versions, it is only step 2 (deactive the fsc) which is disabling the ASD. Doing the coding part however is not hurting anything either, it just doesn't matter what setting you have there. after a software update you will need to go back and deactivate the code again. it should not cause any issues with applying the update. |

chris3g Thanks again, man. First time messing with a car's firmware. You and many others here helped me get comfortable diving in. Messed around with some other basic stuff last night too. It's like finding a new pocket on an old jacket lol.

Is there any difference with fake interior sounds with exhaust button off VS coding ASD off? I have a valve controller and typically keep the button off.

Yes. ASD is always on unless you code it off.

If I didn’t export the asd code and wanted to turn it back on, how would I do that?
