So your only argument is that a larger pair of rear wheels just makes a car look better no matter what type of body style the vehicle is (coupé, sedan, mid-engine hypercar, high, low, rectangular/shoebox shaped or swept forward/back, boxy or slender...). This denies the single most important principle of aesthetics which is harmonious proportions, and yet pointing that out somehow makes it a personal problem? But hey, feel free to put 16" front / 21" rear on a body that's been designed for a perfectly balanced profile, I'm sure you'll love the planted look

A certain front end, most probably the M4, has been self-evidently leaked, it's pure speculation as to whether it's the M3. I can't see any link between the front end link and the automatic assumption that it's the M3?

Have I missed something ? Someone enlighten me :-)
It's not pure speculation when industry insiders are telling us they share the front fascia AND you can plainly, clear as day see the outline on all G80 test mules. It's actually gospel.

At any rate.. this is a cosmetic appearance decision that any owner can easily change.
Looking at the images they look like different designs to me. Obviously different sizes, but I would not read too much into the 19 vs 20 front to rear just yet.

I for one love the M performance twine setup securing the front license plate.

There will also be a $2000 carbon-fiber gold bling version of the license plate necklace. With a $10K 24ct rose-gold option for oligarchs.

Ugh! Just another example that this car was not designed around the grill! Add on top of that a front plate and you've got yourself an incredibly cluttered and messy looking front end

It's not like that's unique to this model ..

But yes it's large and ugly.

Not if it is a mesh or perforated in some way to allow air to pass through.

Another perhaps even simpler solution would be to black out parts of the lower portion of the bumper to make the lower part of the grill look like a more conventional intake. In fact, once pictures of the production car are available, I'll bet we see people create some mockups of different ideas.

In any case, we're not talking about a difficult modification. Its really just changing the shape and appearance of a hole in the front of the car. Like I say, if there is demand, the aftermarket will address it.
Yes, and mesh would probably have less restrictions then perforated surface.

People like us will most likely modify if they don't like it.

I personally modified almost every car I owned and it makes the car transform tremendously.

Can't wait to see final results

The only thing that suck is wait. Lol

Yeah I was part of the minority who loved the 4er Concept. But the front end leak definitely took some wind out of the sails. It's just not integrated that well from what I've seen. Looks like a normal BMW front end that they slapped some tall grilles on, unlike the Concept which looked like they formed a cohesive design around the grilles.

Does anyone know if there's going to be a large weight gain? I'm expecting some with the addition of awd to the M cars but hoping weight gain is 75-100 or less. Is that unlikely?

With the current stupid front end design, that's probably the plan.

I would guess at 200kg minimum between AWD and RWD. Probably 100kg when comparing F80 against AWD G80

I'm not confident the grilles/bumpers will be easy to swap out. Especially if they have active flaps like the G20. It at least sounds like it would be too expensive to be worth it.

That's literally the only thing holding me back from ditching my F32 for a G8x. I love most everything else and would plan on swapping aftermarket suspension/wheels/exhaust anyway.

I think most, if not all, the latest M grills are fixed open, without active flaps. So with the G80 getting horizontal bars instead of vertical slats, I think the whole grill will be static and cheaper/easier to modify (if that's your thing).

That's what I was comparing was F80 vs incoming awd G80. 100kg wouldn't be a terrible weight gain but hoping for higher use of aluminum and CF to minimize weight gain. Otherwise it'll be darn near the size of the 8 series
