Dealership in nyc wants 20k over msrp

I called around NYC dealerships and Freeport dealership wanted 20k over msrp! I am guessing they are getting tons of calls for the M3 xdrive.

I wonder if this is a strategy to scare off people of getting the car. Any recommended dealers near NYC for msrp price point? Thanks in advance.

People are waiting for months for a MSRP allocation and have to wait for another 4-6 months to take delivery.

Someone who is impatient would be willing to pay that markup and drive it off today for a vehicle in stock.

I saw the ad on cars.com. Called and they said the car is available for immediate delivery. I asked what's the catch and they told me 20K over sticker. That was several weeks ago. Lets see how long it sits.

I've known the business manager there for almost 30 years and even he told me to look for another dealership if I want MSRP or anything remotely close to it, even though I bought my F32 from them in the past. For any G8x model, BMW Freeport refuses to play ball for anything less than $10K above MSRP no matter what.

Well I took his advice and contacted BMW of Columbia and I got MSRP (and even Loyalty), no questions asked, for my G82. Freeport really sucks now to be honest

No, it's a strategy to make money by fleecing an impatient customer.

Do these dealers a solid and remember this is how they acted when the 'ball was in their court'. Don't patronize them for anything except a rock bottom deal once the tide changes.

Sorry, but actions should have consequences in my book. It's their choice to sell the cars for whatever they want, but it's the consumer's choice to remember how they acted and to consider that when choosing to work with them in the future.

I'm definitely a free market guy, but there is more than just dollars and cents to the equation in my book.

Seems like that's what the market will bear at this point... people asking for 20K over sticker for USED ones.

Contact James Kuziw at Habberstad BMW of Bayshore. It won't be MSRP, but it might be close to it. If you can report back with how much he's asking for over sticker, that'd be great. That way I know whether or not to be sending people his way.

And it isn't exactly NYC (Long Island) but it's fairly close.

Good luck!

Hey, I live in NYC, I put a deposit down in mid Feb. it may be stale here's what I found:

BMW M3 xDrive

BMW of Freeport - 10k over (my '19 F82 dealer)
BMW of Springfield - 5k over

BMW of Freehold - 5k over

Open Road BMW - 10k over

Habberstad BMW - 7500 over

Westchester BMW - 5% markup, but I was able to negotiate an M4 xDrive allocation at MSRP, just because I was curious. Their waitlist was 8 people on the M3.

Manhattan BMW - MSRP but 1% more on financing, .004 more on MF lease - but talked them down off the markup on both - I have an order here, 3 or 4 person wait list - contact Isaiah

BMW of Bayside - MSRP, 8 person wait, I'm on this wait list because they claim they've been getting 3 M3 allocations monthly - call Christian

Paul Miller BMW - MSRP, 10 person wait

I called a lot of dealers in our area of NJ/NY, if they're not on this list, it's most likely because they wouldn't say on the phone how much. What I've found though is, if you go in, some of the places charging above MSRP will negotiate lower. Good luck.

Wow! Thank you. The quotes I got were similar to what you got. I didn’t bother calling Bayside or Manhattan because I assumed they wanted markups! I’ll call them today.

I started calling few dealerships in NJ and PA. Paul Miller was on my list to call today lol.

Thank you again!

Someone will eventually buy it. They'll negotiate down to $15k over and leave thinking they got a "good deal".

Try Connecticut. I am on two lists for MSRP. One in Fairfield county and one in Hartford county.

Heartbreaking! Was hoping for a return to our glory days.

But as for Connecticut you have to keep in mind the rich people in Greenwich and Darien like there money way to much and would never pay over sticker. It just goes against there principles. Lol

I've had my car on Autotrader for over a month for just 10k more than I paid and willing to negotiate and I've had zero interest. Although I'm not a 'motivated seller' as I have no idea when my M8 will actually arrive.

When I was calling around I found Manhattan BMW to be good guys to deal with. I almost bought a car at MSRP from Albany and they would deliver it to NYC no problem. I ended up doing a deal with Competition BMW of Smithtown on Long island. They asked for $5k over but they caved to MSRP very quickly
