Ok, so you can call it 4wd. Does it really matter? We all know what it is regardless.

Personally I think the entire SUV and turbo trend is so counter productive. They handle like garbage and create enormous emissions from their weight. I'm not even sure turbos save any emissions in the real world compared to a well tuned NA motor. It's just a sham and M is not better for it. But they acquired Mini and turbos hit EPA metrics. And the economies of scale on tuning turbo motors versus a bespoke S engine are huge. Gotta deliver that shareholder return.
If bmw doesn't stay competitive, they'll cease to exist. Then fast, rwd luxury sport sedans with a manual will cease to exist.

I spoke with BMW USA to pay off my lease end disposition fee and decided to slip in the question about when the g80 M3 was coming out, granted I'm no @Scott26 or @f80njm3 so they could be lying to me but they said there will be no M3 for MY2021 only the M4....can anyone confirm/deny this?

What I can confirm is that, when it comes to finding reliable information about upcoming BMW products, you should ignore everything you hear from a sales person, and instead seek out reliable sources such as Bimmerpost.

We know that both the the M3 and M4 start production late this year. It is not clear yet whether the first model year in the US will be called "2021" or "2022". But either way, there is no reason whatsoever right now to conclude that the two will not enter the market at the same time.

So you ignore completely what mkoesel stated above (...which was aligned with my thought process and reasoning, along with everything we know at this point.......and we all know that dealers rarely know more than us forum members) and go straight to the silly responses again.

Of Course it matters!
First because this is not a cooking forum, and second AWD is not 4WD and they behave very very different, hence I want to know which one is it.

I do believe that they will put the same system in place in this case as well.

Thoughts?
There is a rumor that the AWD versions will be launched six months or so later but that M3 will be launched later than the M4 make absolutely zero sense. We have seen the M3 mules forever with the M4 mules showing up much later so the M3 should definitely be included the first G8X launch, maybe rwd only though.

Jason says in the title M xDrive AWD which is confusing.

.
I had M1 for awd and M2 just rear

The turbo fobia started because of the taxes reglementation in Europe. Every vehicle until 2000 cubic cm has a normal tax system. Once you passed the 2000cmc the taxes are sky high. The amount of taxes asked for V6 (forget V8 and so on) are enormous.
For this reason everyone tried to squeeze as much power as possible from a 2.0 l engine.
Sad but that's the story.

BMW just followed suit in this one as the people that buy a V6 / I6 in Europe are very few.
