Is the only way to turn off auto software updates is through mybmw app? I turned it off but either I’m accustomed to the CS trans tune or it still updated somehow.

Not sure how to turn it off but I feel like stock transmission feel much smoother in Sport+ manual mode compare to CS tune.

Who flashed the cs tune for you? If it was kubax86 I believe he will reflash for free. You should contact and find out. |

I have my updates turned off in iDrive and the app. My plan is to monitor the forums to assess from other owners whether a particular update is of any value since I have several things coded into the car that I don’t want to loose. So thanks to all that are getting the updates and taking the time to share their honest feedback of the changes.
It would be nice to know if kubax86 will recode for free after updates. It would be nice to keep the car up-to-date and not loose the coding, but such is life I guess. The one thing that would make me want to spring for an update is any software revision that would enable Waze maps in the main display/hud. It’s nice to have Apple Maps there but Waze would be even better. I know the likelihood of this is probably quite low though.

So now that I’m coded, trying to turn off updates. Ot seeing any place to do so either in car or app?
IDrive 8. Also, will the dealer try to force an update if one is available? Do you just tell them, please, leave it alone? |

It’s kind of annoying having that message that software update is available in the car but I just ignore it. When I got coded by kubax86 he said they will offer discounted recoding but not free. I believe he said 1/2 off. I tell dealer to leave software alone and they do. |

hasn’t taken it up for Google Maps or Waze on iOS. I believe Android Auto displays Google maps in the cluster. |

It’s not up to Waze, it’s determined via the software in the car. BMW decided that only the OEM mapping software would be allowed, so Apple Maps/iOS and Google Maps/Android.

Curious to read about this, as I have never seen any reference to it being a BMW limitation. Any links you can provide?

If Waze ends up supporting, or already supports, a similar kind of "display" API the way Apple and Google do, then it's possible, but I would be floored if BMW didn't have to add in support on their side as well. |

A search online doesn't show any indication that it is locked to Apple maps for iOS or Google Maps for android, simply that other apps haven't taken advantage. It makes sense that these two first-party apps would offer this functionality on their respective platforms as it demonstrates the functionality. If Apple approves an app that includes second display support, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work in a BMW that has the second display functionality (like an M3 with iD8). https://developer.apple.com/videos/p...0016/?time=870 |
