The e46 CSL was only in two colors also

The colors as well as the unique body details become part of the car, in that it makes them identifiable from a distance.

I think if you had 10 different colors it dilutes the visual Impact a bit

Because only 1,000 are made, have to justify development with high cost. And they are probably sold out already.

Have you built a GT3? Try it sometime. A friend is getting a GT4 RS, 180k and it still doesn't have half the options. Plus market adjustment of course.

Some people need to share what they're on

Regarding paint choices, this has long been a staple of CSL/GTS cars. Has someone missed the last 20 years? They only come in a few colors and that's it.
Forum whiner: "we want the good old days"
BMW launches CSL in 3 colors, one more than the E46 CSL
Forum whiner: "wahhh but they're not in the right colors!"
I roll my eyes at all the redundant diatribe. How much did they expect it to list at considering the G82C price point. Still cheaper than that special Alfa which couldn't even out-lap the G80C. Yet all the folks who aren't even the target market are behaving as though they were ready to buy one but now they suddenly can't justify the cost.

If you have GT3 money, go buy one, there's no need to whine about the CSL. GT3 rules supreme of course but these folks are merely annoying tire-kickers.

Would have been nice to have unpainted/exposed carbon for the bonnet and boot. Would look great with black.

Limited run = mark ups=Sold out already

Target consumer people that have a bunch of cars, houses, boats, yachts, private plans. There are way more than 1000 of those and They want to add another cool car to the collection to show it off to their friends.

No way this car is a better car than M4x drive. Throw in same cup 2 R tires, and some suspension mods and stage one tune/DP/intake for 10 K upgrades and it will embarrass the hell out of the CSL On the track. The grip advantage of X drive with the power to go with it will be way more than 40 Hp gain and the weight reduction.

It really depends on where you are…here in Switzerland the base price of new 911 GT3 is 222k$…same as the M4 CSL base price…

Of course you can then spec the GT3 to 250k$ or more with some nice options, but compared to a M4C base price, the M4 CSL this is still 100k more base

In Switzerland it's 215k.

That equals to 220k USD.

I could buy a G81 Touring as a daily and a Porsche Boxster GTS 4.0 for the weekends for that kind of money.

Pure marketing exercise, the CSL.

Anyone know if we can change the specs?

It is modifiable. Not many options though.

Choice of color, carbon bucket seats and "CSL Graphic Deletion".

I think black looks awesome on the CSL. The red framing provides more than enough contrast against the exposed CF on the hood. You're driving better be up to par if you plan to show up on the track in this beast dressed in black
Looking closer at the black pics, I agree. Breaking: dealer just received BMWNA memo regarding CSL order protocol which references Frozen Brooklyn Grey. It also requires individual paint orders be in system by 5/31. Graphics delete is an option.

That's the dealer's policy. The dealer likely will build a loaded-out version and sell it to whomever buys it first. Take it or leave it.

Yes so not really a fair comparison here a GT3 is a sub 7 car.

GTS on the other hand will be in the same price range and does a 7:24-7:17 with less HP and on Pirelli P zero (which are not great track tires).

If you want it to be faster, CUP2 R tires and some tweaks on alignment, if you must Coil over or just techart springs will bump it to 7:07-7:10.

I know it is BMW forum but we cannot mention the GTS.

Removing the CSL stripes makes it look like just a normal M4. With the disappointing 0-60 times, the M4 CSL just feels like a disappointment.

BP is great, constant arguments about how cars are too heavy but not fast enough 0-60. BMW, if you are listening, we need a car with the following:

- 0-60 in 2.8 sec or less (faster than M5 CS). Would be best if it can be as fast as a model s plaid.
- Normally aspirated, needs to rev to at least 8k rpm but ideally peak torque comes in instantly.
- AWD
- As light as the e46 M3 CSL (~2800 lbs)
- Needs to have brand new manual and DCT transmissions.
- Cost needs to be only $10k more than the standard car.

My dealer offered me the one allocation they got at $50K over MSRP. I said no, but I'm sure they will have it sold pretty quick if not already.

Getting allocation at MSRP. More than MSRP means you do not have a very good relationship with your dealer. Change dealership.
A number of people on this forum are getting MSRP.
