No Parking Assistance Package available

Hello All,

I was waiting for M3 Competition xDrive and kept checking on bmwusa.com everyday for past three months, I was able to see M3 Competition xDrive is ready for build last week finally; However the Parking Assistance Package is not available since then.

For the past week, I've been contact BMW Genius and multiple BMW dealership (SF Bay Area), from the current information/answers I got we cannot add Parking Assistance Package anymore; Due to the chip shortage, not sure when this package will become available again (probably next year). I am reallllllly sad about this, I should contact dealer earlier even before it shows on bmwusa.com.

I have a build scheduled for production that I literally just had updated today (in last few hours) and added Parking Assistance Package. Mine is M3 Comp RWD though not sure why that would matter.

Lots of discussion on this in the forum, but your best bet is to put your order in with your CA and ensure you can get it added on.

Thanks jttBimmer for sharing this info, this is a good news. You added the package with the help from your CA, right? Is there a build week info after you add this package?

If you see the other threads there are a lot of people with very delayed delivery of their vehicles. Some people waiting 4-6 weeks+ at port (including myself) due to this issue.

So while you're free to configure however you like as it's your car personally I would take what BMW is saying at face value and not go for the parking assist.

BMW is still offering the package. My car just finished production and is on the way to the port with (as far as I know) the parking assistance package.

I'd make sure with your CA. I know its not available on the configurator but I believe members here have been successful in adding it to their builds.

I have a 2022 M3 manual with park assist. I called genius and they said scheduled for production with no build date. I was scheduled for week 39. What’s really going on? Should I cancel park assist?

I'm working with a broker but he went through a CA and they were able to update my order today and add the parking assist. No mention of that pushing back production schedule but I may reach out just to ensure...

I suspect maybe those who are delayed are already built waiting for repairs while new builds are fine? That's crappy for people with built cars but may be true.

You can check with your CA I think. Yes, there is no real build date with Parking Assistance pkg, depending on the BMW supplier.

That is possible, since there are many delay order, they remove this pkg from online configurator, not sure when BMW decides to add it back.

This is what I believe to be occurring. Those orders that fell in a certain timeframe (I think primarily '21 builds) have been enduring stop sales due to cameras. I don't think this is still an issue, but I could be wrong. I guess we'll see once my car gets to VPC.

Depending on the camera/chip supplier, this issue could be resolved eventually.

The 5 builds my store has for September all have the parking assistance package and have confirmed production weeks.
