If you really want a sleeper just get an M3 and take the M badges off. No one outside of the enthusiast world can tell the difference between a 3 series and an M3.

I dont see a M850i/M550 having more power than the M3. Makes no sense to me.

The M550 weighs 4400lbss, almost 1000lbs more than the current M3/4.

Besides the fact that the stated HP figures usually are closer to wheel HP rather than crank, the M340i will weigh more than the G80 and have a higher center of gravity. Hopefully the G20 M340i will come with an LSD, otherwise it's still no contest and miles below a real M car in driving dynamics. But I agree... 500hp would be nice. However, if we take the ballpark 15% drivetrain loss into consideration, at 465 RWHP, that's significantly above 500hp to the crank. Nonetheless, these numbers are less important than how much of that power can be put to the ground and how the car handles overall.

I wouldn't be too sad if they stole the AMG motor blueprints and started using them. even the V8 in my M6 sounds "pretty good" whereas the AMG biturbos just sound heavenly.
