CSL motor/trans mounts with Xhp

So I’m running Xhp on my car as basically my only software mod.

It really intensifies the shock on the drivetrain, and from the videos I’ve watched I understand that bmw put harder motor mounts and trans mounts in the CSL.

I imagine it shores the driveline up better for the aggressive nature of the trans tune in that car.

Anyone have any thoughts on that potential mod?

Would I need to do new diff bushings as well?

Here’s the part numbers:

Engine mount L 22 11 7886927
Engine mount R 22 11 7886928
Transmission mount 22 11 7886929

I am curious about the CS mounts if anyone has procured this option.

Same. Please update what parts you needed and ease of install.

Stiffer mounts should help but just remember vibrations would be increased as well. Curious if they are using a different mount material compared to the non cs or if they are just larger.

Good question, I know that the “trans mount” is the entire part rather than just replacing the bushings.

My whole reason for doing it is to just keep the drive line shored up better since the Xhp stage 3 shifts are pretty intense at partial throttle at around 5.

Sometimes it seems like the lash through the drivetrain is more than what you’d like to have.

But what do I know.

Interesting experiment nonetheless.

Don't see any benefit in doing so, especially at stock power levels. We've had a number of 800whp+ S55/S58s as well as heavily tracked M3/M4s on the dyno and never seen any signs of stressed or failed engine mounts.

The mounts might have a higher durometer rating (which would be stronger) but always result in increased NVH as a result if you're prepared to deal with this on a street car. We had a couple of cars come through the doors with the S55 GT4 engine mount inserts, it would essentially rattle your fillings out.

So this isn’t a question I wanted to have to ask anyone. But what are your thoughts on how well the zf8 will hold up to the Xhp tuning?

Like I said my only reason for getting the mounts is because we know the CSL shifts faster so I figured bmw though that the driveline/zf would need more support.

I’ll definitely return them if your professional opinion is that it’s not a worthwhile mod.

Thanks in advance.

You might get different answers based on if someone is trying to sell you something or not. IMHO, changing perfectly good engine mounts (that haven't failed) is not beneficial at all.

You would be much more happier spending that cash with a flash tune, which would compliment your xhp flash.

Good point..

Well, you’ve successfully talked me out of the mounts.

And into a tune.

Did anyone try this?

I come from the B9 S4 platform, where replacing the transmission mount with billet reduced the slop in the drivetrain and improved shifting feel.

Even though Tom talked me out of it I’m still very curious and may do it some time next year.

I basically just want to do a full CSL swap for all pertinent components.

Just for fun
