Suggestion for KW coilovers..

Hi guys i just got a 2024 M4 competition xdrive. Im leaning towards KW for my coilovers i just see so many different types. I want an aggressive stance(using spacers as well of course) but i dont want the road to feel all crazy and feel every single rock i drive over. What would you guys recommend??

Kw HAS kit. MP HAs kit. Eibach front springs only. They all ride nice.

The AST Adjustable Spring Kit will give the most aggressive stance: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2025071

A Height Adjustable Spring (HAS) kit will retain the EDC system if that's the direction you want to go. If going the next step and talking actual coilovers, you have your choice of KW V3s or Ohlins Road & Track setups - we just started shipping the Ohlins xDrive kits about a couple of weeks ago and currently have them in stock.

Either system will provide a comfortable ride. The coilovers will also make handling a bit sportier. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any additional questions.

The front springs only setup works only on a G80 as it's much lower in the back from the factory than a G82.

Coilovers are always better due to more adjustability but if you don't plan on tracking the car I'd save money and go with adjustable springs. I drive on H&R VTF adjustable springs. It's not as low in the front as I'd want to even on the lowest setting but it still looks decent. The right quality is one level stiffer in each setting. So comfort is now sport and sport is sport+. I didn't go with KW HAS kit as in my opinion they messed up with the spring rates for our car and the fronts are too soft and you lose that sharpness on the steering wheel.

Here's a shot where you can see how low the front is.

I did want to take the car to the track but not like all the time but definitely wanted to test her out there. Definitely when i jb4. Right now im def leaning to coilovers.

I would not coilovers for a strictly street car, the adjustable springs are better value.

Im using H&R VTF and they are excellent, but so are the AST and KW HAS

What are people’s thoughts on the M performance from the port that includes the warranty vS aftermarket? This is for a street only car. Ty

It’s funny you mention that and I bought my Öhlins from you and my car is mainly street driven. Suspension is the geometry of the car and I’ve driven quite a few cars on lowering springs from friends of mine and my decision always stands.

If I’m not putting coils on, I’m leaving the stock suspension on. Coils make a car predictable for me and that alone is priceless.

To the OP, just saying that as the stock suspension on the G8x is setup well out the box compared to my F87 where coils was a transformation from the stock crashy suspension.

Very well put. Too many people focused on power and/or stance and will completely ignore the dynamics of a properly set up suspension - which overall, make the M even more fun to drive. Springs (including adjustable springs) will satisfy those that simply want to close the gap. A proper set of coilovers will completely transform how the car performs, giving you even more confidence to push harder in the turns.

The stock suspension isn't bad, but it can be much, much better.

I read that the KW V3 or 4 will keep the stock ride quality (or even better) paired with the better looks, whereas just the springs serve for the better stance but somehow compromises comfort. Is this something you guys can confirm?

If you care more about function over form, then stock suspension > aftermarket lowering springs all day.

I say it's worth saving up for a coilover setup, even if they're just KWv3. I have my vehicle ride height set to the highest setting on KWv3, and it's the perfect height for street/track IMO.

Front and Rear dampers are also very easy to adjust for track use.

I believe they're just pointing out that they haven't test fitted the MY24 xDrive specifically, but there really shouldn't be anything different from previous model years.

Speak with your local M enthusiast shop, or reach out to tom @ eas to see if his team can provide some technical clarity/assistance.

Yeah Tom has been great I was really considering the ASTS. I just wanted to see if the KWs would provide an even smoother ride. For me it's about the stance but also not riding like I feel every rock on the road haha

Agree with FriedPiston, the rep is just confirming from their list. The suspension components have not changed from previous models.

IMHO, the AST Height Adjustable Spring kit to get your drop range and the added bonus of retaining your EDC would probably be the best route in your case.

Tom what's the life of the ASTs normally?

No different than OEM. Since there are no dampeners, there are no rebuild intervals.

Just wanted to share a new found observation with the KWv3 -- setting both Rebound and Damper to the lowest (softest) configuration gives a much softer ride over the stock Base suspension in Comfort mode.

It feels odd driving an M with a super soft configuration, but it goes to show how a few clicks can transform the ride to your liking.

I checked the German website for kw and it does not consider 2024 special... It says from 2020 M4 G82 xDrive the suspension fits.
