It already surfaced that the 6-speed manual of the G87 M2 will feature 450ps/444hp ("M2 Pure"). That's the same power output as the F87 M2 CS. As a start.

So, yeah, that'll be quite a way to enter the stage. I look forward to it.

As appetizer there will be the M240i xDrive Coupé due to be presented shortly, to get us a glance. A BMW press release earlier this month announced some info about the forthcoming G42 2er (so also expect this to be carried over to the G87 M2):
"[A]lmost 50:50 balanced axle load distribution, an extremely torsionally stiff body and chassis technology consistently designed for agile and dynamic driving behaviour. [...] Static torsional stiffness has been increased by around 12 per cent compared to the predecessor model, for example through the use of dynamic driving struts in the rear of the vehicle [...] [S]ignificantly increased track width at the front and rear axles. [...] An Adaptive M Chassis is offered as an option for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé. Its electronically controlled dampers offer the option of activating the appropriate mapping for both sporty and comfort-oriented driving. [...] Available as an option for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, Variable Sports Steering combines further optimised precision when steering into bends with reduced steering effort when parking and manoeuvring. [...] In addition to a model-specific front spoiler lip, front splitter and air curtains, air deflectors, a tank and a rear axle cover as well as the contours of the air-flow-optimised driving dynamics struts on the underbody ensure that lift on the front axle has been reduced by 50 percent compared to the predecessor model."

I dont think this is a render, but this 2 series looks hot. Just imagine it with M car embellishments... Cant wait.

That's a real picture of a G42 2er. No render.

You don’t think that’s the G87? Look at how bulged those rear arches are. I’ve seen other spy shots of the G42 and they aren’t like that.

That's a G42 M240i xDrive - Thundernight Metallic (BMW paint code C56). No G87 M2.

There are at least 2 thread on the new 2 series... Have you guys seen this? Not sure if real or rendering. The hood lines are almost identical to the previous 3 series F30.

It's worse than I imagined. If this is a real shot of the rear, I have no words.

I try to reserve judgment until I've seen a car in person, but it's hard to imagine this rear looking any better in the flesh. Yikes.

it has a really strange rearlights LED design. It follows the awful (in my opinion) real led design introduced in the X3 LCI. As happened with the F87 it's worth to wait the LCI probably to have a better light design.

As far as the rest of the car is concerned, it seems to be reallly good. Nearly an unicum as small coupées are quickly disapperaing.

Such a shame about that rear-end, everything else looks pretty good especially compared to the G8x.

They should smash the G80 front end together with this hideous G87 rear end and make the ugliest bmw ever.

I thought the G80/82 is a miss but G42 is just flat out looking fugly. What is going to with the front and rear lights? They are small and so far apart. Was first hoping to upgrade my F82 to G80 but cannot get over the look. Switching gear to the new G87 but looks like the G42 is an even bigger miss. Not holding my breath on the G87 to be so much better looking.... wow.... what is going on with the BMW designers?

Yeah, that's what I am thinking too. Maybe the G42 looks will grow on me. But why does it have to grow on me? Lots of cars look great from the start. I don't understand BMW designers either.

All the rear light moaners
…..

I mean this F22 rear is just stunning : I've owned an F22 F87 too and there rear was ok not amazing. This car is no different with a note 3D design and the curved top of the boot I prefer.

Too many passing judgement without seeing it but ETTO. Everyone is leaving BMW anyway of course as the design is outrageous
