Intriguing results. I like and respect Jethro….been reading him since he started in Evo, before anyone in the US knew him from Motor Trend, etc. Can’t shake the feeling that he just wanted to fall in love with the specialness of the Alfa, as it seems that it’s “playfulness” is the only thing it’s got going. If I had to read everything but the last paragraph, I’d have thought he would have had the BMW and Jag battling for the win.

The G80 reminds me of the GTR when it first launched back in the late 2000s.

If anyone remembers, the GTR was a wicked fast car around the track and at the drag strip at the time. BUT its biggest drawback was that people often said that it was "boring" because the car was basically doing everything for them.

That's kinda what the M3 reminds me of. Its wicked fast, but you have the AWD grip and the computer doing mostly everything.

Thats kinda what I'm understanding from this review. The playfullness that you mention, that's what I would call "drivers car".

I can completely relate to this. The M3 comp on which the M3 CS is already more powerful, agile and capable than anything in its class and I’ve just handed ours to my wife so I can drive a car that’s 50% less powerful and a lot more fun to drive (transmission, steering and sound have a lot to do with it).
