You must have misunderstood me. I am not here to criticize wagons or to tell you not to buy one. I am merely stating what everyone already knows, namely that wagons don't sell well in America. Therefore, I doubt BMW will even attempt to bring this wagon to US. They didn't bring the great looking and relatively affordable M340i wagon to US, why should they bring this one? Further, that M3 wagon would likely directly compete with the X3M compact performance SUV that was introduced just last year.

So they wait until the generation that is getting the most criticism to introduce a body style that the world has been clamoring for over the past 30 years?

Let me say I'm not won over on the m3/4 until I see the final product. But something tells me there's a bit of uncertainty at gmbh of this design. So much so they're trying to throw the world a bone.

"Don't focus on the front of the car where we ruined it, focus on the rear where we added an extra door."

And for that reason, I can see this being a global model, well I mean it'll at least be coming to NA. And if I'm correct and it does, my warranty on my clubman will be up just at around this will be out and if I can get an auto with awd, i may be able to look past the grills.

Yes, nobody argues the looks, but Americans simply don't buy them. We buy trucks and SUVs. Breaking news: turns out there is a reason why euro manufacturers keep their wagons in Europe.
Just saying according to your original post nobody likes, wants, needs… That my friend is a matter of opinion... Not arguing that it's definitely a niche market, but for those that would be interested I think they should be made per order. Whether it comes to fruition I doubt it, but there are those of us who do you like them

M4 pricing? Touring have been only slightly more expensive than sedan in the past this should remain the same for the future.
Solid answer. Thanks for playing.

So an M3 touring would likely be less expensive than an X3M. I'm not so sure that's a great business move for BMW.
Well all normal 3-Touring variants are less expensive than the X3 here in Europe - so if it makes perfect sense for all base models, why not the M?

I stopped buying BMW's because I couldn't get a manual hatch. I'd come back for this though. Hell, if it comes to Canada I'd strongly consider transferring to our Toronto office just to be able to get one.

This is a great move. I haven't been as excited since the 1M reveal. Though I've been quiet, the new front has been a blunder. This new development somehow changes things as mentioned by JoeyBananaz18 . I would say it comes to NA for these reasons as well. This is the electricity the brand needs with its recent duds. Even the lightening quick M8 couldn't sustain itself!! Somehow, I'd consider overlooking the front if:
1. 6mt
2. Hopefully 2wd option

Bmw, watch these pages multiply and proceed with your plans!!

Why don't you import an Alpina B3 Touring? It's a great looking wagon with a traditional BMW nose and it also got the S58 engine.

My guess is that the profit margin on M products must be way higher than regular Bmw products. Therefore they were able to develop a version with a manual transmission even if the sales figures are on the decline. The same rule could be applied on the touring and sold a special product just like the E63 wagon and RS6.

I can see this coming to the US as a factory order option like Volvo does for the V90. This mode makes it a little more convincing that they'll actually be bought in the US if offered.

Not a wagon person myself but the fact they are putting together a large scale marketing push through global channels tells me they want global attention. How many other bmws to they put out press release before it is even spotted on the test tracks.

My take: I can definitely see it coming to the US but not as a volume model, probably allocation and production restricted to ensure they don't oversaturate. I would not expect to be able to buy one off the lot at anything but the highest volume M dealers. Thinking availability similar to the 1M or first year of the M2 would make sense, gift to the dealers small group of msrpish sales and protection from any units sitting on lots for a full model year with 10k trunk cash
For wagon fans in the US, tell your dealers and write bmw NA....
