It's all subjective my brother. I would get every car in YMB for the rest of my life if it was offered. I had hopes (prior to the reveal) for IoMG but found it to be too muted for my taste.

Are they trying to capture more customers with bigger cars? Probably. Are they alienating a small portion of us enthusiasts? Yes. I guess the bottom line is more important.

I would say the M2 (all variants) is BMW's sportiest model. Unfortunately, the M3 is now the size of an M5. I googled the M5 weight, 4300 lbs. The M3 is 300 lbs. lighter for RWD and let's be honest, the same weight in AWD trim. Other than the price difference and the style, I don't know why you would pick a M3 over an M5 with the M5 offering much better performance.

Let's look at it by generation E30 weight: 2,568–2,998 lb E28 M5: 3,109 E36 weight: 3,340 (the LW was 3,140) E34 M5: 3,847 E46 weight: 3,461 E39 M5: 3,957 E90 weight: 3,483 F10 M5: 4,387 F80 weight: 3,540 F90 M5: 4,370 G80 weight: 3,9XX to 4,3XX Again, there has always been a difference in size and weight between the two cars. Now there isn't. That sucks. Now both cars weigh the same but the M5 has a ton more power. Instead of buying a smaller more versatile car, you're now forced to buy a discount M5 that looks odd from most angles. Same size, way less power.

Sao Paulo looks soooo much nicer than Austin Yellow. But it's so bright, definitely takes some guts to own.

The SPY looks kind of like a creamy neon yellow in those pics. Muted neon.

I'm guessing that, along with the black lower bits that they had to take all the way around the car in order to not make the rear bumper look funky are required to hide the new EU-compliant exhaust.

I dug it throughout the dragged out launch process and I dig it even more. White looks legit. I love the creasing on the side.

I don't understand why people complain about the weight of the 4WD version when Bmw still offers the possibility to choose the lighter 2WD
Anyway, the AWD system on the M340i weighs around 120 lbs, so the M4 4WD will still be a long way off the weight of the M5, plus there's a huge difference in weight distribution between the two (most of the extra weight from bigger sister is on the front axle due to the engine and the AWD system). And again, the longer wheelbase of the M5 has a big impact on dynamics. There is still a remarkable difference between the two, especially with the 2WD M3. |
