M3 owners: Are the rear window defrosters built into the glass?

I was wondering whether to tint the rear glass. I am worried if the defrosters are raised and not built into the glass, the installers might mess them up.

[EDIT] for anyone else wondering, yes the elements are raised.

The risk you face is not directly related to the installation process but more towards the removal process once the tint has completed the curing process.

I think that's when the defrosters are on the glass rather than in it, right?

You are correct - not sure I've ever seen a defroster built directly into the glass, I'm sure they exist just never seen one.

Saw in another thread someone mentioned his Porsche had built in defrosters. For the G80 do you know if they are built-in or not?

That I'm not sure of - never owned a Porsche but that is a good possibility
