I understand the comment, eager to see the difference in driving dynamics.

I understand the "rarity" of the CSL but it doesn not mean much to me, I am buying these cars to drive them !
Indeed

I've got an order on the CSL but if the M3 CS is almost a carbon copy of it, then I'll have to seriously reconsider
Same here, if spec is similar the M3 is more practical.

By forgoing M4 CS, BMW M not only streamlines its niche product portfolio, but also makes room for M4 CSL price reduction.

It sucks, I refuse to pay over msrp but at the same time understand why they are doing it. My business is in a similar situation, increasing costs and super limited supply, have to charge more to make up for lost sales/profit and since you have limited supply you don't care if you lose customers.

At this point everyone has realized this isn't "temporary".

I am guessing 2023 models will see 10% msrp increases, question is can dealers still markup if that happens? How many will pay $100k for a standard M3…

M3 CS, M4 CSL, and the limited release non-US M4 GT/H will be your new choices.

One again, we might not be getting the most potent (and best looking - no giant grill) version here: the M4 GT/H. That is the only one I care about. Still hoping…
I placed a deposit on it …just in case.

Pretty much.

One of the reasons I started doing this was the timing of the purchase of my wife's 135i: when she placed the order, no one told her that the switch from N54 to N55 was coming, and she ended up with the 5th last N54 135i produced. We never had any plans to tune the car so N55 would have been a much better choice - instead we had to deal with pretty much every problem typical for N54. And then the 1M, which we'd happily grabbed instead, was announced, but we didn't want to take the depreciation hit on the 135i - and again I didn't know that 1M would have such a short production run that it would have still been a sound financial decision.

So, since at the time we were fully committed to the BMW brand, I figured I should become better informed. And here we are.

I agree 100%, I did not expect him to say yes MSRP right away either. I also didn't even expect him to talk price at all yet considering its a year+ away so we don't even know what the MSRP will be.

You can still pull out of the lease early - I think up to 6 months if you ask nicely, and if it's to buy a new BMW.

Is the power increase via tune only? Or does it get different components?

Ya, sadly we live in a world of weirdness now. Price of a GT3 close to 300K 992, and a GTS goes as high as 240K. LOL A 12 year old 911 4s goes for 100K.

You cannot compare the two cars, BMW and Porsche is a different league let alone sport.

For the CS I hope they do change the grill design and do something for the fake side grills.

Yeah prices have gone crazy. My F80 sold for more than I paid for it 3 years earlier. But I feel thats why the last CS did not do well. At over $100k it put it into a different level of cars at that time. But with the Porsches and other competition now well over that it should do better at if it can stay at that price point.

Besides the M4 CSL being RWD and the M3 CS being AWD is there much difference between the two? It looks like both will have the same horsepower, torque, carbon fiber, bucket seats, etc. Although it looks like M4 CSL will have rear seat delete.

My conjecture: The CSL will be the harder-core track package (e.g. GT3), whereas the CS will be more of the all-around supercar (e.g. Turbo S... for lack of a better analogy). The CSL will likely be lighter and offer a roll cage and racing harness, at least in some markets, though the AWD will probably keep the CS faster overall. And the CSL will likely be more limited production / hold resale better.

And better front end.

CS msrp will easily be $110-115k well spec'd . Would someone pay that , yes ! Absolutely people will. Just not me. M3C X drive is just right. CS will command a premium partly due it limited production numbers
