Dealers are the last people to learn about new model releases.

Telling the people at my local BMW dealership about the cars they should expect 1-2 years out used to be (when I still owned BMWs) one of the best parts of this hobby.

400lbs ! That's a lot, what are the real world weights on AWD M3 ? The M240i isn't very light..

idrive 8 seems like a downgrade cause of the direction of the latest idrive it doesn't make sense in a M car.

Would love a CS though just would be better with ID7.

this might get me out of my F80, passed up on a M2 CS at 2500 over sticker (which I regret) if I can get one of these for MSRP (or very close) I will not pass.

Any idea of price premium for CS over Comp model?

M5 CS cut 200 lbs while still having AWD and automatic, so maybe M3 can do it as well. No reason to buy this unless it does, otherwise save $25,000 and just get a simple tune on the M3 comp.

Amazing how market conditions have changed things, 3 years ago this version would go for a heavy discount, now I am guessing dealers will want $10k over msrp which could put it at M5 CS msrp.

From what I understand, the M3 CS will probably follow in the footsteps of the M5 CS, with bucket seats in the back, decent lightening efforts, and a bit of extra power. It seems the M4 CSL will go the extra mile with rear seat deletion, more radical lightening strategies, and a roll cage in allowable markets. The M4 GT/H will be a CSL with stock M4 drivetrain, since BMW engineers seem to be firmly planted at that 400lb-ft limit for the GS6-45BZ transmission. A shame the GT/H won't be available in the US, since we're the biggest market for archaic technology

The M4 GTS was sold in the US/Canadian markets with roll bars so I assume the CSL will as well…. unless the laws have changed since then?
What laws? You can get a GT3 without rollbars and no back seats. That was just BMW's decision to put in rollbars to avoid liability.
No idea. All I know is that I was able to order a titanium harness bar for my 675LT in Canada but it was unavailable in the US which makes me think there's something unique to US crash and safety standards.

G8X buyers seem more eager to spend then F8x buyers. I see way more highly optioned G8X builds north of $85k. Alot more individual cars as well than previous generations in my opinion. I think a CS at 100-110k will do better than the last one. Now if they creep higher into the $120-130k range might be a different story.

Last thing the G8X needs is more power, but I'm excited to see how they improve chassis dynamics and steering feel. CS models seem to be where BMW brings back their old engineering magic.

You might be right but $100k puts it in new 911 (if you can get one) category.

Just got a call from the dealer I purchased my F80 from, I sent an email to the sales manager I dealt expressing my interest in the CS and asking for him to put down my info and call if one comes available. His first question is how much will I pay over MSRP?
