Thanks for the update... Can't wait! Although the M4 CSL is going to be mighty tempting as well. Sigh. Decisions, decisions...

Does this mean LCI will come earlier? I thought m3 cs will have the new idrive8. Maybe I should reconsider getting the m3 xdrive this year...

M cars don't have official LCIs. However they always get the upgrades given to their mainstream siblings, and since G20/G21 LCI will be in July, that's when G80 will also get the same hardware.

And just to clarify: M3 CS is a separate version, not a replacement for any existing M3s.

M3 CS, M4 CSL, and the limited release non-US M4 GT/H will be your new choices.

But has BMW doubled down on their failed exterior design approach? Yes
Did they listen to any customers? No
Did they update any concept models in-pipeline to back off their stupid design language? Nope

Doubling down when you are doing the wrong thing is not smart, and it appears BMW has done that yet again.

I'm not sad, I'm disappointed.

Wonder how they're going to shave off 200+ lbs with the AWD. Wish they would've kept it RWD with 305 Cup2's and 100+ lbs lighter and get it well into the 3600's.

So I just got an allocation from a dealer and am getting a production number tomorrow morning for a M3 comp xDrive. What is the timeline for these updates? Am I going to miss it by days/weeks? Not sure if I hold out till next month to get the next MY with these updates… thoughts?

Thanks

So if I am understanding correctly, you are saying the M3 LCI will be here July 2022 so the M3 CS will get the updated idrive 8? Also what price(msrp) does everyone think this will be selling at? If it is close to 120k that is basically M5 money so I am thinking 110k fully optioned? But 110k is too close to a fully optioned M3 xdrive so Idk. If it is below 110k that's a great deal (compared to the m3 comp xdrive) since all the m performance carbon options come with the car.

It would be interesting to see how many they are producing these too because if it's not super limited, I might cancel my M3 xdrive order and wait for the M3 CS.

The original rumors allowed me to put myself on only M4 CSL and M3 CS lists. I'll be getting both and there will be no M4 CS.

I dunno man. This past August in Monterey BMW had the iX, M5 CS, and M4 GT3 cars on display near each other, among many others. You can probably guess which one had the most people around it. Fair enough if you don’t like them, but the new designs don’t appear to be the failure you think they are. Just took delivery of my G82 last night and I’m about ready to have sex with it. Carbon-backed, big nose sex. Just as the good lord intended.

Given that the M5 CS does not (as you note), I suspect that it is unlikely that the M3 CS would have that option.

It would be unfortunate if the option is not available on the M3 CS - that may push me to take it out of consideration.

The M5 actually starts at $103k, so the existing M3 can already be optioned up into that range. And given that the M2 CS and M5 CS carry $25k and $40k premiums above the standard models, respectively, that suggests a base price in the $100k-110k range. (BMW knows that fans appreciate and will buy these limited-edition models, without worrying too much about cannibalizing sales from other models.)
