Just got my G80 xdrive back, 770hp tune on e85. Did 1.8 60ft, 6.79 1/8 mile at the drag strip which I think its terrible. 1st gear launch, R888Rs in the back, stock tires in the front. Looking for advice on how to improve my launch skills!

Either terrible track prep, or you just simply overpowered the tires! That's a lot of power to ask a road racing tire to hook, especially on a less than stellar prepped track surface. R888R's HAVE to be hot to hook. I'd either try to make sure you have heat in the tires, or try a set of drag radials. BTW... What was your mph in the 1/8th?

How long do you burnout before each run to heat the tires up?

With your power you might actually go faster brake torquing the car and launching in second gear with DSC full off and car in 4WD.

It should save some wheel spin and you won’t have that tenth delay on the 1-2 shift. Something to try next time.

At what rpm you suggest considering power

Whatever amount of throttle that will prevent you from pushing through the brakes.

If you go S3 on transmission settings you will have to shift it on your own as I don’t believe launch control will engage on a second gear start and trans won’t shift itself on S3. (Depending own your tune you might have second gear LC enabled though)

It'll probably bog off the line based on the 3k launch limit.... in 2nd gear I mean. I think you can probably keep it from pushing through the brakes up to juuuuuust over 3k rpm's but not much more.

Another tip I've seen is to set the suspension in comfort to allow for more squat and weight transfer on launch.

Yup that helps for sure. I went a 1.6 sixty (stock ‘24 X-Drive) on a moderately prepped track with the suspension in comfort. It still spun several feet but it definitely was better in comfort suspension versus the other modes.

You actually can engage LC in 2nd gear as long as the other conditions are met. Hasn’t been any faster in my attempts though, similar configuration to OP. Might be for guys making a metric shitload of power I guess.

Since you have xDrive, would you not benefit from similar grip tires on the front as well?

You typically want 1st on xDrive, RWD launches by default in 2nd, afaik.

At stock power levels yup but over 700hp you can sometimes go faster with a 2nd gear start due to better traction and time saved from the 1-2 shift.

I’m confused, I thought S3 is required for LC to engage and it would shift on its own

You should definitely do a burnout to warm up the tires and get all the crap off that’s stuck to them.

If you’re using LC you may want to trying getting off the brake before you reach full boost/RPM to manage the power/wheel spin. A bit more.
