I am on my second G80 M3 and both with buckets. They're one of the best out there and Ive had these, Porsche, and MB buckets. The seats for me (5'9" ~150 lbs and very fit) are very comfortable and aesthetically are incredible too from all angles.

Needs some contrast & touch more sportiness. Same goes for Fjord , but not as dire since the middle section is black ( which oddly is missing on the other 2 mentioned & would have benefited to some degree)

I think it’s on purpose - silverstone and yas and black and ko have a bit of that sportier look with alcantara strips while white, fjord, fiona, and tartufo are more the classic full leather bucket seat. It’s pretty awesome that all these colors are available on the buckets. And as you point out, there’s a third distinction between the colors that have black leather accents with no alcantara (Fiona, fjord).

No amount of forum posts is going to be better than OP going and trying them out for himself.

Yep

We all enjoy cars and talking about them and sharing our opinions and experiences but the buckets are just something that need to be experienced more than a test drive…which is almost impossible…

So in your opinion would you recommend me for someone my size? or no? I'm not fat, pretty young, and don't have back problems.
IMO your answer is a little bit lower down on the G80 forum...

"Best way to get in and out of the bucket seats? (Multi-page thread 1 2)"

They look cool, but so do the regular ones and they are very comfortable.

I opted for the regular M Sport/comfort seats.

If it is a daily driver I would definitely recommend against the buckets but they look phenomenal and definitely hold you in place more. I will say, I have never felt a lack of support from the regular seats when cornering. You can also adjust the bolsters to hug you tighter if needed

For what it’s worth….If you’re the kind of person that likes to trade cars every 2-3 years the buckets may not be a great idea. Dealers want to flip trades ASAP and I think the majority of drivers looking for a new car won’t want the CF seats. If you plan to keep the car or sell privately resale should not be an issue. Trading it in they will screw you on the CF buckets.

I still say all the advice here about comfort is very subjective. You really have to go try them yourself if at all possible.

I am big guy - not so much as fat (though there is that too) - but broad & 6'2" 44 suit at my skinniest - I find getting in and out of the g80 with the regular sport seats a chore. I was thinking the other day: crikey I am glad I dont have the CFBs. Might be better in an g82 - but I like the 4 doors.

Do you skip leg day? If so, go with the buckets. If you don’t, comforts especially if you have a non cargirl wife who rides with you frequently. lol

I get your point but, your advice is don’t get an option that you want because you may have a harder time selling, may not get as much value back on a trade? Then you better not buy a manual, sunroof, individual color, carbon brakes, etc. Really shouldn’t buy this car at all…. And certainly don’t buy a M4 convertible…

There are lots of reasons to not get the buckets. Fine. Don’t get them. Buy what works for ‘you’. But, the Dunning-Kruger effect is strong…

I did not advise anyone not to get an option they want. It’s more about carefully considering options if you are the kind of person who trades cars every couple years. Just know that when you’re tired of the car you’ll likely do better selling it privately then trading it to a dealer if you have CF Buckets and or a manual.

I do understand your point. If you’re only worried about resale you might as well not by the car. That was not what I was trying to say.

No, my point is buy what you like (and can ‘afford’) and question those whom don’t have experience with the options you are considering.

Tough to make the choice without getting a chance to sit in them.

Have more track oriented seats in my sports car & they are a pain in the left butt, no pun intended, getting in & out of. Saving grace is the car has no roof so it eliminates a lot of the issues that high bolster seats can generate.

Am 5'10" 190lbs & passed on the buckets when they failed the "can I get in & out of them" a number of times a day without difficulty when the roof was up. At least I had a chance to try them even though it was in a coupe.

Think if the car was less used in a daily environment, stores etc, that did not require a lot of getting in & out I would have gotten the buckets.

Looking back at the OP history... this must have been a bait post as there was never a follow up on what they decided on and it has only sparked opinionated discussion for almost a month

Agree. Most “What should I get…” posts smell like bait.

Agreed. 2 posts over 4 months screams troll.

Looks like the Model 3 troll has either been banned or went away. Those that missed his posts are lucky.

This would be a great dating site. Women should be flocking to this post. We are giving height and weight and all drive cool cars.

Like shooting fish in a barrel for them.
