I'm curious as to why you sat the E9x generation out?

First M car and BMW. I know a lot of people comment on the car being ugly, but the aggressive looks (in my opinion) are what got me interested in the M3 and what ultimately got me to order the car. Loved the performance numbers but also love the look.

That and my wife was all for it as long as I stopped talking about getting an Aston Martin after my first retirement in 5-10 years (military).

I'm fully expecting to buy a Ferrari in 10 years and my wife hears about it every single day

I'll most likely be ordering a G80 next year but the ultimate goal is that Ferrari... gotta keep my eye on the prize.

multiple M cars here, e36, e46, f82, f80 and now g82. I didn't love the grilles at first, but the car grew on me. I went in to a local dealer with my f80 for some maintenance and was sold on the g8x platform after seeing it in person.

I've stopped talking about it (for now). I'll just surprise her when I pull into the driveway with one after retirement. Can't wait to see the look on her face. Lol

In person they say it's ugly?

I thought as soon as I saw it that the G8x was going to draw new consumers to a very aggressive product. A lot of people certainly left the brand, but many more came back or for the first time.

Exactly. A Ferrari would be incredible too. All of the cars I want are so damn expensive.

Yeah. I've read dozens of reviews talking about how hideous the design is. But I personally love it and with the performance numbers the same and the old design, I'm not sure I would have pulled the trigger if I'm being honest.

Weird that I get nothing but exuberance! NO one says it ugly, they say they love it.

First M car and first BMW (car at least, do bikes count?).

The first car I ever bought new was a 2000.5 Audi A4 1.8t/manual/quattro. I've always been more of a moto person so the last 20 years I really haven't gone through as many cars as some of the others here. Spent the interim in a few different cars/trucks and I got the itch for a fun/weekend car. For whatever reason I've never been in to outright sports cars/2-door coupes/etc...which leads to the M3 Should be here in a month or two.

I bought a Boxster S in 2012 but I remember feeling put-off by the guzzler tax. Also, the '05 was a fave and I kept it for seven years, only selling it reluctantly to fund the Porsche purchase.

95% of people still complaining about the design are trolls. Everyone I've talked to loves it too.

I don't think they're trolls, but I think they've committed to hating it no matter what lol.

3rd BMW, first M. Had an e46 and an e92. I've also had a Cooper S, a GTI, an A5 and currently drive an A4. Always been an enthusiast but was never able to afford the cars I really wanted. I've been fortunate enough to be able to try a bunch of cool cars, including a couple different 911s, but always loved and preferred the BMW feel. Waiting for my G80 M3 xDrive, can't wait.

Second bmw and first M. Bought a 1991 850i after college now I have a m4 competition. I had a 2020 c63 before this which I sold to get this car and it’s way better…the Benz sounded amazing and way better because of that Amg v8 and the power was great but it didn’t put down the power, handle as good, or have the same quality as my m4. Maybe it’s not fair to compare the two because one is a previous generation vs the new one

Welcome new M owners! Looks like the styling attracted new buyers to BMW.
