You can get Pilot Sport 4 ZP (run-flat) or Pilot Super Sport star specs in your sizes. Star spec PSS is a much better tire IMO than stock PS4S.
Is this Michelin Pilot Super Sport part number what you are referring to (see below)? I am just trying to get some high performance (good weather) tires without getting new wheels. I would prefer getting them from Costco. Can someone recommend a particular tire with part number for my 2022 M340ix to ensure I am getting the right ones?

Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Costco Item #: 1075477 1410382
Mfg Item #: 18580 08649
Tire Size: 225/45ZR18/XL 255/40ZR18/XL

Yes. If you look at Michelin's catalog: https://www.michelinman.com/auto/tir...rt?tyreSize=18

You'll first find that they no longer make a non-star-spec 225/45/18. But then you'll find that the part number for the star-spec 225/45ZR18 is 18580, and for the 255/40ZR18 is 08649.

I just got the star spec 4S this past weekend to replace the pirellis that the car came with and there's a noticeable and positive difference in every way that matters including road noise, ride comfort, grip and overall inspiring confidence when driving the car (RWD).

That's a bummer as it looks like I lost the tyre lottery on my car. Every car I have had that's had Pirelli's on I've hated them and was hoping the G80 would be different.

This video was very informative. I know it's an old post, but thank you OP for posting!

Always trade offs. Would like to see how the wet performance is in more moderate water. We do kind of get some rain here on the Gulf Coast, lol.

no, in addition to the standard design, 295/30/20 is available in porsche n-spec and amg mercedes m01 spec but the details of those designs are not known. They could be similar to bmw star, or not at all.

In 21", yes. There is a 295/30/21. But no 20s.

I only made it about 2 months before I knew I had to ditch the pirellis, honestly I knew the moment I first saw the car and that it had the wrong tire.

Pirelli is trash, what pirelli did to get these contracts from these manufacturers must be crazy because this is my 4th vehicle in less than 2 years that I'm ditching pirelli's for michelin, ford did it with the explorer st, dodge does it with all hellcats, and now bmw does it on the m3.

So I should get the Michelin "Pilot Super Sport" not the "Pilot Sport 4" or "Pilot Sport 4S"?

225/45ZR18 is 18580, and for the 255/40ZR18 is 08649?

Doesn't matter bro, as long as it has the letters M I C H E L I N on the side.

Ignore the troll above.

You should specifically get "Pilot Sport 4S"

Those are the street-developed high performance tire that's offered from BMW.

...and NOT AVAILABLE for his car, which you would know if you had

There are ZERO star-spec PS4S available in ANY 18" size. The regular PS4S do not have the multi-compound build that the star-spec PS4S and PSS have. You know, the entire point of the video in the first post?

I do disagree on the Star* PSS , from personal experience

On my F82 replaced them with just regular PS4S . It was a night and day difference .. infinitely better in every metric

Great feedback, and may be more translatable experience for his use case than mine, since his is a 340xi.

Mine was in a friend's F87, and I found them exceptional in that application, not too far off from the stock PS4S* on my G80. He liked them so well he bought another set when they wore out. But obviously the M2 is a very different car (at least in that gen) than the 3/4 series.

new_g20 if you decide to go with the PS4S, those Michelin part numbers are 31753 for the front and 98512 for the rear.

Different car and different tire. It was mentioned in the video that this specific tire started development in 2017 and wasn't launched until mid-2020. So your star spec experience, while applicable for this car, isn't relevant to this application given it was almost certainly not this tire.

I'm obviously not talking about the star spec ones, but non-star spec are still available for his car in the correct size, as we've established. As you've already discussed, I don't think it matters in the grand scheme of things that I'd go with non-star spec PS4Ss anyway.

I changed the star marked pss on my m2comp to non star marked ps4s and i have a night and day difference. Maybe the pss was a little bit more responsive and maybe a tiny bit more steering feel but when they are cold they are useless and when the roads are wet it is a nightmare. I tried the ps4s on a really wet trackday and i pushed the car with a lot of confidence. Less tire noise, more comfortable than ps4s and plenty of grip in dry condicions. Get the 4s after my opinion.

I think BMW did one and yes Pirelli have developed a tyre for the G80/82 which is star marked and in my experience is very good.
