Well, I think it comes down to timing. There is a segment of enthusiasts that are entering family life that want an enthusiast vehicle that has some space for the family. Possibly the timing was wrong in the past, but now you have a market for both the SUV and the Wagon. People are searching for an alternative to the SUV and there is not many options. Off-road vehicles were a smaller market share 10 years ago, The FJ Cruiser was canceled, now it is the most enthusiastic market space in the automotive industry. Shifts and patterns change quickly.

New Vehicle Market and Second Hand Market are completely different.

The "poll" should come with the caveat *Purchase only; Lease Not Applicable

This Audi RS6 Avant is a really sweet looking ride, the Nardo Grey with the Blacked-Out trim looks awesome! Do NOT like the heavy panoramic moonroof.

Waiting for the BMW M3 Touring to be brought to the States 🇺🇸.

Will the G81 potential owners pay full MRSP? If so, then they should take it up with the BMW dealership council. Dealerships could pressure BMW NA to import to the US under full MRSP terms.
Why the G81 buyers should be paying much more? Bmw should sell the G81 at a small premium over the G80 like the F31 was about 1500$ more than the F30. Of course if they use Mazda marketing department and sell it at a crazy premium it will fail(CX-5 diesel).
Exactly what I thought, pretty much let's get the G81 in the US at invoice, buy rate MF and residual at 65% for 15,000 miles per year. Dealerships lose money on the deal.

Going to be a tough sell to BMW NA with only 1,000 units produced world wide.

I wish you all the best!! Hope you all are successful.

Doesn't help Dealer Floorplan would be limited as well. BMWFS won't support it.

This is the same company that brought over the GT 3 and 5 series. No way those sold more than an M3 wagon with 6MT would. Come on BMW. Doooooooo it.

6MT RWD Wagon—take my money. Would even consider an AWD to further add to the utility. I've purchased 7 BMWs in the last 15 years, but haven't made a purchase since the e9x m3. This would bring me back to BMW.

Listen. The G8X is going to be such an absurdly ugly car for me. I hate to sound like that guy, but I mean, my F80 is almost out of warranty and the only thing I'm considering now is a C63. Not like BMW is trying to get my business or anything (I ain't shit), but the only way I'm giving another cent to them is if they either:
1) Fix the damn front end of the G80 (won't happen)
or
2) Bring the G81 to the states (preferably with a manual).

I've owned four M3's, and I've been waiting to buy again until the new models arrive. A Touring Competition version with AWD would be perfect for my needs. I'd rather have that than an X3M and would gleefully put my name on a dealer wait list.

I already signed the petition. BMW, I know you look over these threads so let me level with you. I have zero intention of ever owning a bmw SUV. Never. As far as im concerned there are others that I'd rather have (see: Macan). My days of 2 door german cars are done. My zhp is still a gem but i needed something with AWD. I wanted something with a similar footprint so I picked up a Mini Clubman. I have no issues with it either at all but after finding out we're expecting our second, I will be in the market for something larger. My wife already has a CR-V so that means she will want to move up to a Pilot- She's staying with a Honda. There's no getting around that one.
But I've got two BMW products that I want to merge into one. A high performance wagon would check every box. G81 is large enough for a growing family, wagon gives SUV utility, AWD give piece of mind up here in the Northeast, and the M badge makes dad happy.
If you guys won't budge on this, my plan is to upgrade the clubman to a XF Sportbrake or the ZHP to an E90 M3, or maybe both. But a potential G81 M3 is the only newer BMW I'd really consider. I'm not putting a gun to anyone's head, I'm just explaining my reasoning so that you guys can see what other people may be thinking.
My 2 year old daughter loves wearing her 3.0 CSL T-shirt- give her a car that she'd be happy to have her dad drive her around in.

Excellent point. I wanted a mini cooper for the longest time but never pulled the trigger the couple of times I had a chance. Now I've got a second kid on the way and the possibility of owning one are long gone. Similar logic could be applied to the M3. how many times do we see M3s or M4s up for sale because the owner has an expanding family? Imagine if they could go from an M4 during bachelor life, then an M3 when the Mrs comes along and finally a touring when the bambinos arrive.

Maybe BMW / its dealers could start collecting deposits to see how many of us are serious potential buyers? If they end up bringing it here, we buy the car. If not, they would refund our deposit. I'd put down $1,000 or possibly more if it was closer to the potential on-sale date to show how much real demand there is (vs. how many people voted for G81 in the poll just for the heck of it).

I think non refundable deposits are mostly illegal, making this otherwise good idea practically meaningless.

I.e. they bring the car, you want the deposit back and they have to give it to you.

I agree, and I mentioned this idea on the first page as well:

A refundable deposit is still not a hard commitment but I think it would be a step further in terms of seeing how serious people are. Just an idea...
As long as BMW officially confirms that it'll be offered here, I would be even willing to put a non-refundable deposit.
