This is just another example of BMW appeasing to the tastes of international markets. They admitted they f*cked up the front of the 7-series to appease non-Western clients, this is the same.

I can at least understand the rationale to be more "expressive" for the 7er because it looked plain next to the S-class. But the M3/4 has consistently been the best looking car in its segment. There was no need to ruin the front.

Just a thought -

If the G30 is any reference or indicator as a relative (?) at all I'd definitely agree here with you.

Here's mine - for an example of m sport g30 front.

And yes, I know 30 isn't 80.

But 2 x 46 is 92 🚆

And their kidneys have almost maybe always been weird.
That's sort of what makes them uniquely BMW is me and the thing that I take away from all of it and this )
The front end on that X looks good!!!

Yes. Unfortunately. Yes.

Exactly!! ....and as I posted earlier, people DID like the F8X renders overall. People liked [the look] of the E46 and E9X too, they just didn't care much for the increase in weight and dash ergonomics.

something tells me the render is probably accurate as they did hire the Audi boss so he probably had a huge hand in influencing its design after Albert Biermann left. Albert Biermann led the development of the F80 and based many of its design cues on the E30 M3 that he helped work on.

The look of the front makes me really uncomfortable - I literally can not look at it too long before I feel the urge to scroll it away.
This has to be a late April's Joke.

I scroll away too. It's a cruel joke that isn't a joke. The more I look at the front, the more I think of a Star Wars Tie Fighter.

Good points.
While I'm not doubting that the shape of the G80 front end will differ greatly from the G20 based on information and photographs available, it's also entirely possible that we are not interpreting all the possibilities out there (i.e., the tall vertical grilles as seen in the render might not be the only possible outcome).

Perhaps it's wishful thinking on my part, but those with very long memories will remember that in the earlier stages of the E9x M3 camouflage, a huge section of the rear bumper was covered with the shape of the attached camo leading many to believe that the license plate area for the E92 M3 would be moved to the bumper, a la E63/64 M6.

This created a lot of hysteria because it made little sense as to why BMW would go to such lengths to defile the E92 design, when it was still a pretty fresh design in everyone's minds.
But people believed the worst-case scenario, and even renowned magazines such as Autobild and Car Magazine published their renders with the speculated license plate on the rear bumper.

Needless to say, in the end, it was just speculative hysteria.
The huge flat piece that was tacked on the rear bumper as camouflage turned out to be hiding the aerodynamic features of the M3's bumper.
In hindsight, it was kind of silly that people came to the conclusion of the license plate being moved to the bumper at all.
But really, that's the point of camouflage isn't it?

Again, I recognize that this render is based off of the perceived contours and shapes that are so far available to (or available to confuse) us.
And while we do have insider information suggesting tall, vertical grilles, how the design will be executed & if it's finalized or here to stay is still pretty much a mystery.

TL;DR - I'm could be wrong, but detractors should rest easy knowing this isn't the final design. There's still a lot of room for interpretation. The E92 M3 during its camouflaged state saw detracting speculations that ended up being non-existent in the final design.
We won't know what it really will look like until it is unveiled.

It's not hysteria. It has been stated multiple times that Scott26 has confirmed the polarizing tall grills. If you have been around long enough, you should understand why his statements hold A TON of credibility around here. Make no mistake about it, the car will have tall grills. I am interested to hear/read his opinion on the accuracy of this render.

Please relax. I only used hysteria to describe the situation with the E92 M3.

If you re-read my post, I recognize the credibility of our insider, hence why I called my own comment "wishful thinking"

I like the rear. Profile looks decent. I don't mind the large grill, but I hope it's integrated with a little more grace. I know this is just a render but it looks rough.
