LCI - option / feature preference

Several of us are speculating certain options or features will be added to G8x platforms during LCI based on the information from other platforms. What would be your "reasonable" LCI option or feature suggestion.

Light blue exterior shades:
Even through current exterior color pallet has some great options, i hope BMW would add a lighter blue exterior color to the option.

Hybrid powertrain:
Implement this for a special trim in LCI and bring it across all trims for the next gen as its a major powertrain change.

iDrive 8:
This is a significant interior design language change. I would like to see this in the next gen and not in the LCI.

leave the iDrive as it is, the iDrive 8 looks totally off and I want buttons, not everything with this touch display crap.

Hyrbid? Please, NO! But why should I care, I have mine already without :P

I would suggest:
- More wheel options
- additional Torque/Power for the MT (same as Comp)
- Rear lights update (it's the one thing I don't really like about my M3, this 3D Design lights...)
- I guess it will get some technical updates, like better drivetrain or something
- Ducktail Spoiler
- Lower Option from the beginning, this cars sit way too high

But i'm no expert in this LCI stuff, I don't know what BMW usually comes up with.
And please consider, these are my personal opinions

Increase the redline for the manual car. 7200 is artificially low because of the ZF and this motor wants to go higher without a doubt.

The comp ZF transmission is the reason the redline is 7200 for both comp and base. I know the motor can go higher and it still pulls up until redline. Would be great to let the manual take advantage of a higher redline.

I would say the iDrive8 is my biggest concern as it takes away from the aggressiveness of the interior. I feel they should only use it in electric vehicles.

Sadly, manufacturers are taking that route for most of their mainstream models.

Mercedes tried it out and is finally moving away from it, now BMW is picking up their sloppy seconds, needless to say, I am happy to be picking my '22 up next week but nervous to get a CS whenever that comes out

I wish BMW would announce that the LCI includes iDrive8. That way I would know not to wait for the LCI and get the '22 model right away.

The iDrive8 will be quite good, yes it will be a screen but the M3 is supposed to be a hi tech car. I am sure it will amp up the interior.

iDrive 8 "looks" very nice but seems like a step back in functionality. People want the instant gratification of a button. No one wants to click through menus to change something. To turn the AC on/off now I have to say "Hey Bmw, turn off the AC" and then wait 5+ seconds for her to understand and process it and turn it off. Give me the damn button. Give me easy to control buttons for climate control Maybe it will suck less than I'm imagining it...

And some better blues so I don't have to spend $4500 on an individual color would be great.

I've seen it in the i4. It looks super high tech. It would be fine if it was integrated into the dash. But I personally prefer the current aesthetic and I do like physical buttons for certain things.

It's typical of people in this forum to judge even before the real thing is released. Take the grille for example, everyone hated it when they first saw the pics and now everyone likes it! Or have come to terms.

Let's not complain, wait for the real thing to arrive and then make any judgments. Don't worry, in a couple of years you will forget about the iDrive and get used to driving EVs. It will be the last thing on your mind then. Most complaining are old school folks who love their analog dials, of course there are some exceptions.

I totally agree your POV about grills. But it was just associated with looks and something very subjective. It wasnt going to impact any of the day to day functionalities of the drive or occupants.

iDrive 8 would be really a big change for any user. I dont have issues in including that in a EV or hybrid where the buyer is excited or wants to experience a whole new package, but the issue is forcing that major change onto the mainstream vehicles. But like you said, there are better thing to worry about and iDrive would be the least issue in the coming years.

I'm not really one to complain too much. The thing is that I've been driving a Tesla for a few years now and I would like to drive an ICE sports car again for a few years before everything goes EV. I saw the new i4 screen in person and it doesn't look bad. It just didn't look like what I would want in an M3. They might do something different in the M3. But if I wait until it comes out, I will likely not be able to order the current car anymore. So I need to decide what to do now. Either I get the model year 22 now or take a chance by waiting to see what happens next year.

Based on previous threads, I was convinced that the upcoming M3 LCI would be minor and not include iDrive8. But a lot of people now seem to be saying the opposite.

I am hoping the essence of the vehicle is retained during LCI and it only brings in minor cosmetic updates.

One more item which i would like to add to my list.

I prefer current G8x daytime running (laser) lights over the ones in F90 LCI.
