Does BMW cover early oil changes?

Hello everyone,

I leased a brand new M3 a few months and I will probably be buying it out in the next year or so. Does anyone know if will allow me to have the car serviced or have the oil changed earlier than the default intervals?

I do basically 100% of my driving in traffic, in the middle of Los Angeles. I know that when you drive the car exclusively in city conditions, it eats up oil faster, and you are supposed to have it changed more frequently.

Thanks!

If it's a month or so, or 10% within the amount of miles, they should be accommodating. If you're trying to do it 6 months early or after 5k miles, they'll probably deny it.

Noooooooo, either do it yourself or take into the dealer right in between the free 1 year interval and pay up.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot a bit early.

Also - my car only has 3,000 miles and the brakes squeal all the time. Is this normal..?

100%. Swap brake pads to iSweep 1500s/2000s or EBC Reds if you want to eliminate squeal.

Google BMW m4 brake squeal. There are plenty of threads that explain options (different pads or process to “bed or burnish the brakes”

If youre within a month or so of the service they will usually do it. With only 3k miles though they might deny if youre not close to the recommended service time

How are the roads over by Vegas? It sucks being in LA traffic and having to drive 2 hours to get to a non-trafficy, decent road to open the car up on.

My dealership said the same as the rest above - 1 month and no issues but anything sooner and they will charge, however, I store my car for the winter so they told me to pay for the oil change and they will "not" reset the service indicator meaning I can go back just before I store it (in the late fall) and I will get the service free as per the schedule.

You really need to ask your dealer. I have service pre-purchased up to 75k miles and they changed my oils at 1,206 (Break In Service), 6,159 and 12,302 miles giving it around 5-6k interval.

I rarely drive in a city, mostly to and from my favorite canyon roads, and the only noise from brakes I can hear is right after car wash, or if they rusted a bit. Manual says if the brakes make noise, to remedy, just go out and brake hard few times.

I am getting my oil changes every 5K miles. I am following CBS intervals.

1. Break in service - 1100 miles
2. First oil change - 6120 miles
3. Second oil change - 10,998 miles

That’s not how oil changes work. 😆🙄

I wanted to do the same thing. I'm up north and store my car for winter and wanted to change my oil early once I bring it out of storage but my service tech said it had to be within the 1 month period as mentioned above. However, he also said if i paid for the early change, they wouldn't reset my counter so that I could then get my regular scheduled change without the extra charge.

I'm doing something similar, I just got one done at 5300 miles, a little early at that, but I'll get the next one right at 10k from the dealer.

Yeah I know I just see so many people complaining about taking the filter out I wished it was on the front like the other versions but rather just change the oil in the mean time
