UK G80/82 M4/3 Remote Engine Start option

I had initially thought that my car had remote start option but upon further inspection and enquiry I was told this option was only available for US/Euro cars but wanted to check does anyone with a UK spec car have the remote start option ? if so what year and model is your car and ive also read that this can be updated via an over the air update but my stealership also said this isnt possible so just checking ??

thanks

UK doesn't allow for unattended cars to be left idling if memory serves? Also, seem to remember The Highway Code says drivers shouldn't leave vehicle parked unattended with the engine running. Thus this option is not permitted in the UK. However, sure with some software coding it's possible... That said, I have seen a Volvo running one summer with A/C on. That was locked and unattended on a car park!

All my JLR cars have had remote start so it’s not that uk doesn’t allow it. I use it all the time on the Range Rover, annoys me that the bmw doesn’t have it when other cars do.

Yeah we have a 65 reg Jaguar XE and you can start that from our iPad in the house on cold mornings. No issue. So no idea why BMW won't permit it in the UK.

This popped up on MSN today - didn't think the Highway Code/RTA allowed it. Guess you can do it with a car that supports it, but risk being fined?

A few weeks ago you could get femto to put it on after an unlock. But now they have stopped doing it.

Does anyone have any other options ?
