New M4 very stiff..

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I've had multiple M cars and this is by far the stiffest one. Bumps are felt very harshly. I remember reading once about somebody getting his car but the dealer forgot to remove something from the suspension. I had my car shipped from out of state, so is there anyway to visually inspect the car and see if there is something left on the suspension that needs to be removed before taking it to the dealer? Thanks

Shipping blocks are definitely in there. The fact that you are saying the suspension is stiff also doesn't add up. This is one of the most comfortable M cars I have ever owned.

Should take a dealer about 15 minutes to fix for you. Jack the car up remove the wheels pull the shipping blocks from the springs and then mount the wheels back up.

After the dealer removes the shipping blocks, check the tire pressures and make sure they are in spec. Tires come over inflated from the factory.

I agree about checking for the shipping blocks being left in there. Isn't it bordering on incompetence that a dealer would leave those in? If it does turn out to be true, they should offer you something for the inconvenience.

Imagine if you weren't tech savvy/on a board like this, you could potentially be driving for wheels or months with no idea of whats going on with your car!

Agreed. I will wait until I find out if the shipping blocks are in there before getting angry lol

The car is very comfortable especially on comfort settings. Seems like the blocks may be in there and the car does seem to be a little high. The rear is usually more obvious if you have a pic of the rear?

It's crazy to me that a dealer could leave these in. Leaving themselves open to unbelievable amount of liability if there were an accident

100% transport/shipping blocks, the ride height is a clear give away, shouldn't be that much gap.

Phone your dealer, it is easily sorted

Glad I found this forum, having my M4C delivered from an out of state dealer this coming week, should I be concerned they will put these back in when they ship out to me? And we’re those shipping blocks on your ride? Thanks!

Damn looks like it. Gonna take me an hour to take the wheels on and off. Maybe I'll find a tire shop to help me today

I would of Towed the car back TODAY and have the dealership remove them in case there's damage to the vehicle.

+1. Don't drive it back. This is insane by the way.

This is actually the most comfortable of any M car I've ever owned by a wide margin in terms of ride comfort.

Nothing is going to damage the car... it's just a piece of plastic

No cause you need to remove pressure of the struts by lifting the car

That was me. I was awful. I was considering getting rid of the car. Once they removed them it was an awesome ride in every mode.
