I told them I didn’t want too much rake but wanted the geometry correct. It came out aligned perfectly with just the right camber. This shop does race suspension and tuning primarily so they were very well versed and doing these things.

Cost me about a grand to have them do it but was worth it to me.
Install prices vary, vastly by shop. There is a place that does them around me for $850 with alignment. And I ended up going with the shop that charges about $1,200, with no regrets.

Looks awesome! Did they lower to factory specs? Or did you ask the dealer to adjust to your preference?

I think this drop is perfect. But according to everything we've read, the port installers drop by 10mm (0.4 inches) front & rear drop... this looks way more than that compared to stock.

Nice! How long did it take from the ship to getting installed at the port?

It was just under 2 weeks from port arrival to dealer.

Talked to my SA a few days ago and he said he's gonna have the techs lower the car to the full drop (20mm) for me before delivery this next week!

Going to ask my SA for the same. Was wondering if anyone else had this done.

I'm guessing it just depends on the dealership from what I've heard, I'll post pics of the drop once I get it.

On port installed HAS, how long after taking delivery should an alignment be performed! Port to Dealer to Delivery the car had 15m on it.

Let the dealer perform it?

I wouldn’t imagine the port would let the car get delivered without doing an alignment. The car gets aligned on the assembly line, no reason it shouldn’t be aligned after they install the springs. The car settles after a few hundred miles, you can get it checked, if you’d like, but if the car needed to be aligned after install as part of the port install, they dealer should provide that free of charge as it’s listed in the install procedures and should be included in the cost.

From factory, the car also is corner-balanced, mostly. Do you think the dealer should first do a corner-balance after HAS install and then do the alignment?

If you think what you’re going to be doing with the car, requires corner balancing, I would most certainly get it done, but, if you’re just going to do some spirited driving, it’s probably not as big of a deal. But, it couldn’t hurt. Skyscraper has his suspension all dialed in. I wonder if he has a comment on it?

Thinking about picking these up, whats the drop you ended up going with? Also do you have any spacers on?

Limegrntaln I have not corner balanced the M4…yet. Just MPHAS and align. I’ll get the balance done soon. Waiting for my CSL STB to get powder coated. I want all the weight changes done first. I’ll get to the track in the M this year.

I don’t see how the factory or port could do a perfect job without knowing driver weight.

Corner balance is to set ride height, align, disconnect sway bars and adjust balance with driver weight in car. If the alignment is off the balance can be off. If the steering wheel is not centered the balance will be off. I set two 85lb dumbbells in the car. One in front of the seat and one in the seat. I fluctuate from 168-172.
It’s a process.
But if you are not tracking the car setting an even ride height and alignment is all you need. These cars have computers compensating for everything. Balance doesn’t need to be perfect. It’s just bench racing talk.

Thank you for the response. As you mentioned too, setting the ride height changes the alignment. While corner balancing, we change the ride height in the individual corners. Even minor adjustments can have consequential changes in alignment.

The issue in my mind is not so much getting to 50% cross-balance perfectly, but after HAS installation and alignment, if you corner-balance, your thrust vector, and toe settings may be dangerously off, needing another alignment. Without corner-balancing, your cross-balance may be off by 5-10% points, and that's not good even for backroad driving IMO.

I think the best approach is to adjust ride height, corner balance, then do the alignment. Otherwise one may chase some ghost handling issues to no end

Camber and caster settings being off will give incorrect corner weight readings. If you are concerned just recheck alignment after.

Edit:
To add to that it’s a process. Racers check corner balance and alignment constantly.
If you are going to make any other mods; wait. Set height and align for now. Mid pipe, STB, body mods will throw it off. That’s why I haven’t done mine yet. It’s an all day job for me at my age. And I don’t want to do it twice.

Got my car tonight! 5 miles driven as I need my all seasons on here in New England but it’s crazy how much the HAS changed the feel compared to my old 23 that had stock suspension. Def firmer but in a good way. Feels right.

I just tagged you to see if you could add something to the replies. I didnt mean that you were dialed in, like a race team, but, I do remember seeing your setup posted, of all of the string measurements, and alignment. I just figured you could add a little more than I knew about getting it setup.

I basically tell people that the stock Comfort setting is gone. If you want to know what it feels like to drive around with MPHAS, just put the stock suspension in the sport setting. Thats about how much stiffer it is with the HAS.
