Go with an MY2021 to be built in June, or wait for MY2022?
I originally ordered in mid-April, and I am still waiting for an allocation. Today, my SA told me the expected build week is in late June. He seems to think I should get an allocation very soon.
At this point, would you pass and wait for MY2022? I'm ordering a base M3, and I am not sure how long the wait would be for a base MY2022 allocation. Thanks. |

How do you have an expected build date without an allocation? You can’t have one without the other. Your dealer is playing games with you.
I’m waiting to order a MY22 at this point. End of Production for MY21 is June; Start of Production for MY22 is July. If you wait two weeks you’ll have a car worth $2K+ more when you sell it. |

Agree with Mr. M above. You either have an allocation or you don't but you won't have a build date without an allocation.
If you do actually have an allocation and a June build date, it truly is a tough call since we don't really know what the 2022 build guide will look like and if they have nixed any specific options or parts of packages due to the chip shortage. At least with the 2021 models you pretty much know exactly what you can or can't get at this point given the chip shortages. In general I'd be inclined to say wait for the 2022s since they are so close.

if you have a allocation you will have a production number. Just ask the dealer to provide you with a production number and you will know whats what.

This is just a wild-ass guess, but week 24 might be the end of 2021 model-year production, so they might just show that if they took an order and have not scheduled it

Status 47 means your order is sitting waiting on an allocation. Your dealer is still hoping to get one and then they have to modify it to your specs. There is no guarantee they will get one before the MY change over.

I have a 21 with the build week of 26. May be the last of the model year. I was on the fence as well but went for it since it was available and known situation. Can't blame you for choosing either path.

What happens if you were to decline and want a 22 build. Would you just let wait an extra month or multiple months that’s what I’m curious about
