Expected wait time from order received to production?

Just curious what is a normal wait time between steps 1 & 2 on the “track your BMW in 2024?

My order was received 3 weeks ago. Does this typically take 6 weeks or something longer to move to the next step?

It depends on how many allocations your dealer gets and how many people are ahead of you in line. Could be 10 weeks, could be 10 months.

If you have an allocation, you can find out the build week by calling the BMW Genius, that’ll give you a better indication of the timetable.

Thanks for the feedback. I have an allocation and a production #. I have had that for 3 weeks.

I don’t have a VIN or estimated build week.

Call the BMW Genius and they’ll tell you the build week. From there, it could be 8-10 weeks (+/-).

Whole lotta learning info for you in this thread:

https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1811516

And then follow up questions in that sub forum. Genius can give you production week, but so can your Sales person. You won’t get a VIN until very close to production date, IIRC.

Once you get your build week, there probably will be a thread there with your other inmates, I mean, buyers.

Haha, quite welcome. There are us crazies who track the damn boat and shipping schedules to figure out when the car will ship. Heck, I even got a video from the Galveston cruise line webcam of my ship making port.

Feel free to ask away via thread there or via PM.

Whole lotta depending on shipping schedule. My car sat in port 5 weeks alone after being built.

It took 4 weeks between step one and two for me, then another month until it entered production.

Got a call from my BMW SA today. He told me I have production week 25 June 19-23. So delivery likely in Mid-Late September due to being an individual color.

Better than what I was anticipating.

Production week 25 is probably an August delivery timeline. I was Week 37 (early Sept) and took delivery in early November, so about 2 months between production and delivery. Even with an individual color, the process isn't any longer, just the wait time for a prod week, and you have yours already.

I’m considering a new M4 cab, my dealer told me around 2 months from order to delivery. I’m in Europe though.

Truth of the matter is, you could order 2 cars, from the same dealer, the same day, the same color, with the same options, and they could arrive the same day, a week apart, or a month apart. I had a friend order a white g80 with the only option being laser lights. The car, was like $73,000, it sat in quality control for 51 days.

Search for a thread called QC purgatory, and you will see how long cars can take. The Baltimore port is a mess with the ship that crashed into the bridge, cars are getting rerouted, so, be prepared for anything.

I will tell you one thing, the car wont take any longer than delivery day.

I am in Australia and wanted the LCI G83, my build (not confirmed) is June sometime.
I originally placed the order in January but knowing the LCI was due asked them to hold ordering till the LCI slots opened.
At least I have the M2 Comp to drive in the meantime, although I am looking forward to the M4 convertible which will be the weekend QLD car. I probably should not complain the M2 took over 12 months to be delivered.
