Infinity Design Gloss Carbon Intake Initial Review

Initial Impressions from the Infinity Design G8X Series Intake

Quality: Excellent; the gloss finish is superb, hides fingerprints, study design and build, and is well manufactured. The air intake filter is a solid unit with no immediate flaws.

Design: Maximizes the size available in the engine bay to reduce turbulent air and uses the stock intake connections to the front bumper. The intake looks to reduce IAT; however, I will have to report back later after a track day. The turbo inlet increase in size is noticeable over stock. The additional air that is fed from the bottom of the car is great to bring in different sources of cold air outside of the main source.

Sound : The previous intake was an MST intake for nine months and then back to stock for a week to allow a "baseline." The induction sound is not as pronounced as MST Open filters but louder than stock. The induction noise can be heard while the boost is building and is lovely in the cabin.

Performance: Currently equipped with an R44 Titanium Catback, MAD 200 Cell Sport Cat Downpipes, and JB4 running 93 Tune, the immediate increase in performance and torque down low is noticeable in the "seat of the pants." From my setup, Dyno will come soon with the stock intake, and this intake, JB4 disabled, and 93 (99) maps. A stock G82 showed gains of 12-16 HP and 10-15 lb.ft between 5500-7000 RPM, attached below. The increase in size of the turbo inlets allows the boost to build earlier, and during everyday highway driving, the turbos are spooling more easily. The biggest thing is the perceived increase in torque; however, UK roads salted and freezing this week cannot get an accurate assessment due to loss of traction up to highway speeds.

Overall: Highly Satisfied after driving 200 miles in different regimes post-install. This intake is a work of art from Infinity Auto Design and well-thought-out engineering; the "seat of the pants" feels increased over previous intakes.

If you are in the UK, these can only be purchased through Swift Performance. If you use the code "G80_Bob," a discount of 10 percent is available. I'll look to get some videos and more in-depth info in the next few months. I hope this helps anyone looking at a new closed-system carbon fiber intake design for the M2/M3/M4!

That’s a pretty sick looking setup. Looks like top notch fit & finish! I need to see it in person at some point.

None, customer of Swift Performance and a satisfied consumer. Since I have one of the first models of these I thought it would be helpful to get the information out to the group.

I’d love to do the same before we move back to the US in September.

We got the same intake on the shop's car; their finish quality is top. easily comparable to the best carbon intakes on the market.

they also do serious testing before releasing new products

Similar finish quality and fitment.

Cant comment on airflow, would need third-party testing for both and i don't think that's available.

I wouldnt say they are. The internal design is different and has a larger area for more air to move through.

Both brands offer high-end carbon fiber intakes, targeting the same customer base.

But I would not call them knockoffs; they do not copy Eventuri intakes, do their R&D and testing, and launch their design.
