I agree. Whilst it's sad that the V8 will be gone, 450hp from the 4 cylinder plus 200+ from the electric motor, will make it faster than the W205 C63S. Even better if it ends up lighter.

Do you expect it being lighter? Me not at all. Added batteries plus electric motor plus power electronics will far outweigh the weight saving the I4 opposed to V8 will bring ...

You may well be right, but the V8 is heavy, so they really should make sure it's no heavier as a minimum.

Yeah, it'll be a couple hundred kilos heavier at least.

I wanna see a bare bones G8x M-xDR vs a tuned G8x RWD. (Both with ZF8)

Read the new C63s with inline 4 plus electric motor will be more than 150kg heavier than current V8 model, but with a lot more power so is obviously gonna be faster too.

I don't know what they were doing with the AMG, as Matt has previously tested the estate at 12.3 seconds.
Wow, had no idea a C63S Estate existed!!!

Drove one on a track for about 10 minutes. That thing can accelerate and corner like you wouldn't believe.
I don’t think the AWD cars will launch all that much better on a good surface, but I could be wrong. The thing you’ll notice about G8x is how much better it launches and puts power down compared to F8x. This is mainly due to the new closed-loop traction control system that operates much more quickly. BMW or their suppliers have taken lessons from Tesla here. Some of the advantage of AWD is probably made up by that.

It sure does.
It's in fact it's one fo my previous car that I recently sold.
It even had an electrically operated tow hook

After having driven the M3 comp RWD I am now about to place an order for and M3 xDrive Comp.

IMO the G80 blows the C63S out of the water in terms of driving dynamics and chassis tuning.

The M3 also feels way quicker despite having almost the same power to weight ratio.

A bit sad to see AMG getting rid of the main USP of the C63 with the next gen.

Interested to hear if you have driven the G8X yet and what your impressions would be comparing it to the C63S.

I have no idea how they managed to launch both cars so poorly.

The end result would be the same in terms of the BMW being quicker but for actually numbers, they both can perform a lot better.

That is a absolutely gorgeous, I only have a Convertible! Would have taken the estate over it, hands down.

It will definitely be faster than the V8 version (and probably the G8x) at the cost of sounding a lot worse in the process. The AMG CLA 45 sounds terrible and while I'm sure they will massage the exhaust to make the 2.0L sound better in that application the V8 IMO was always the main reason to buy an AMG.

Thank you
Not sure it's the prettiest of cars but there is something oddly cool about a station wagon with a 500hp V8 and a tow hook

"Only" a convertible?
Great looking car and with one of the best engines out there.

It truly is a Gem! I am about to Vacuum seal this car 🤣. Couldn't care less how fast any EV ever will be!
