Do you actually need all the room of the Audi? If answer is no, then I'd do M3 and Miata combo.
M3 should be practical enough, and the Miata is the manual car as well as drop top in nice California weather. Win win. This was an easy one to choose IMO.

Everyone is different with different preferences and priorities. My priority would be different from yours. The best piece of advice would be to simply drive the M3 to see if makes sense for you. For me personally, I had a very similar situation, I had a Grand Cherokee as my DD and a 350Z as my 6 speed mod/fun car. Although I loved driving them both, making room for both cars in the garage was a PITA and after I got married, it became more of a hassle. So I downsized to one M car and got my snow tires for the wife's GTI.
For me, I know that I couldn't live with a automatic so I got the 6 speed M2C and the wife has a DSG in her car. Basically, my preference is to downsize to one car, 6 speed G80 in your case.

Well, the M3 is a sausage magnet so sure if that is your thing. If you want to use your car to pick up women, would suggest a '95 Tacoma single cab to find the right woman. That will tell you really quickly what motivates them.
Get a 7 Series/S Class if you want to find the kind that is impressed by cars. Sure to be a short term relationship with that type of woman since she will be leaving with half your stuff pretty quickly. Plenty of drama to go along with that as well. Seriously though, there is a lot of overlap between the Q5 and the M3. There is zero overlap between the M3 and the Miata. The pretty obvious answer is to get rid of the Q5 if you get the M3. DSG to Auto is a non issue IMO. The auto in the M3 is absolutely outstanding and the software seems to be telepathic. Arguing over 0.1 seconds in acceleration is like arguing over the thread count in the seat stitching. Nobody is ever going to be able to tell you the difference. There is definitely a difference in shift quality where the auto box is significantly better in day to day driving. The DSG adds a little more emotion, but it is not a big enough difference to really care. Last edited by Salespunk; 09-22-2021 at 03:26 PM.. |

Can't say I didn't love driving the two Ive owned.
Eventually got tired of the cramped and shaky ride going and coming back from the track. It's a perfect car to start doing hpde events and develop your skills.

So i guess the general consensus is sell Q5 followed by sell both and consolidate to just M3. Thanks all, this was great.
