How soon can you track a new g80 drive comp?
I just purchased a new Portimao Blue m3 xdrive competition which has 27 miles on it. Purchased was 10 miles. I have a scheduled track days on Oct 2nd and 3rd. Question is how soon can one track the car? DO I need the first 1200 mile service before tracking?
Thanks, Chris |

I wouldn't track the car before break-in service is done. That is unless you're a first timer and don't intend to push the car. I believe the official recommendation is to keep the car under 4500 rpm before the break-in service.
That said, there are plenty of people that ignore the break-in period and are fine. The risk is yours to take.

There is a reason that BMW specifies a break-in service for the M cars.
October? You better take some road trips. And remember, it's not just the engine that requires a break-in, the differential also gets a service, and the transmission will likely live longer as well, if broken-in "gently".
