i tried. my towing eye covers were so thick that i think it would have taken me a year to get through them with an X-ACTO knife. so i gave up and used the Dremel: drilled the ends and used a Cut-off Wheel to connect the dots. then used a file to sand the edges.

caution: hot molten plastic goes everywhere and it very much likes to make blisters.

I've been looking everywhere for those OEM BMW tow straps. They don't sell it on the US market if I'm not mistaken...

No, they changed the thread size between the F80 and G80. However, I'm sure they make one with the F80 thread.

Super poser to drive on street with tow straps attached. Yes, needed for track. I recommend both front and back. No, you cannot get out of your car on an active track to put hooks/straps on (unless your car is on fire - then bail and get behind a safety barrier asap). You can use the stock tow hook with most clubs but it's a shin breaker while parked in the paddock so I recommend you use straps back and front.

Whenever I see cars driving around streets with tow straps on I think of people who would keep the lift tags on their ski jackets all the time.

kos137 how long are the metal parts of these (NOT including the threaded part)? I ordered two of these for my pre-LCI M340i, without realizing there is a different P/N for the front pre-LCI. While I think these will work without the covers, I'm guessing the front will definitely poke beyond the bumper cover. My plan is to use these for the track only an remove when not on track.
