Denver area, extended try with Carbon Buckets?

Hey community,

I used to be in the BMW community for many many years, but landed into the Porsche community and have yet to see something compelling enough from BMW until the G80. Honestly, I think Porsche is missing out on the opportunity in this 4 door mid-size sports sedan space.

I haven't had a sports car since my manual and modded 997 C4S I sold almost 2 years ago. My Macan Turbo is fantastic and better than most other brands sports cars, but its still an SUV in looks and overall center of gravity.

This G80 M3 xdrive is compelling as an all around replacement for my Macan and has the potential to bring a sportscar back into my life, especially with the buckets.

As great as ventilated seats and the comfort of the std seats would be for my daily commute, those buckets would introduce that "Special" sportscar feeling and provide the flexibility to bring it to High-Plains a few times a year. Maybe this new gen would help me get into the sub 2's!

I have been fortunate enough to drive many generations of buckets from Porsche and Ferrari, but not BMW. While some buckets work with my older (43yrs) back, some don't.

Is anyone around here with a G80-83 and buckets willing to help a fellow car guy out and do a Sunday meet/drive for like 30-60 mins? We would meet on a good driving road and can either switch cars to go for a drive or I can drive with you in your M, whichever works.

LMK

I’d be surprised if you get any takers. if I had them, I’d let you sit in it, but drive for 30-60 minutes for someone I just met. Hard pass brother.

But good luck…

I appreciate your honesty.

As respectful adults, there have been plenty of times that I have met a group in the local pcar community, we chat, go for a drive, switch a couple of times, and head back with a greater sense of community.

They're just cars man. Why else are we here (especially online) if not for community.

Just sayin.

I wold let you drive mine if I had buckets. I do have a 2021 Macan GTS and 2023 M3 Comp X and I can tell you that the M3 makes my Macan seem ordinary. I still love it, but man the M3 is an angry beast in comparison.

Thanks man, I appreciate that. I did end up renting a M3X with buckets through Turo when in LA for a Porsche training. As of last week, I have my production number for my new M3X order, of course, w/ the buckets.

Seems that sitting in them consistently for a week for 5 hour stints felt great.

BTW, have you driven the '22 and newer Macan GTS? Honestly, it's more 911 than ever before! It really does feel like a hot-hatch Porsche. Was a difficult decision for me between the new Macan GTS and the M3X. I do suggest driving one if you get the chance.

I would invite you down to my dealership to experience one but we do not have any incoming Macan GTS that are not spoken for in the foreseeable future.

I have not driven the 22 or 23 GTS. I have been on the look out for them for a while. I want to trade mine in and get a 23 before they go to electric in 24. I can imagine with the added horses and giving it all the turbo perks it drives amazing.

I finally got to sit in some carbon buckets. They are very tight compared to the normal sport seats. I'm big boned and I feel like a busted can of biscuits in those seats. I am glad I have the regular sport seats.

yess the buckets look so cool but at the expense of comfort and i mean this in the most extreme way, Its like trying to fit into a shirt that's 1 size too small.
