Fellow ATLien here. You'll be fine except for the one week that all hell freezes and everything is iced over. Even then driving the car normally was fine. I'd say just make sure your tires are warm before any spirited driving. The RWD G80 has excellent handling to be honest but like any car, respect that it comes with its limits and learn those limits. Like everyone says keep traction control on or at minimum MDM on.

Drove turbo AWD for 10+ years and was concerned with switching to RWD g80. With traction control on its very stable and I drive all year round in rain and snow. Once you have tamed the beast, drive with dsc off and enjoy! (on dry roads with warm tires!)

I think "use it" in this context was "[use] the button to turn it off"

I will echo most what everyone else has here. The biggest saftey issue with these cars is the overconfidence it gives the driver. The danger is becoming laxidasical when driving.
I refer you to some personal experience - https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2049733 Safe travels to you! Last edited by M4ord; 11-07-2023 at 05:18 AM.. |

Thank you sir, I am just new into this RWD thing and makes me feel much more confident that I just have to be careful but not terrorized about having bought a RWD.

Just received a used g82 m4 rwd 2 days ago. Went rwd mainly because I feel like maintenance will be slightly cheaper down the line. I have yet to floor it as I am nervous I won’t be able to handle what might happen. I do not plan on ever turning off DSC(until I finally get to do the M driving school thing). Was wondering if DSC will be reliable enough to keep me and my vehicle safe if I were to mash the gas for the first time. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I often drive with DSC off. I’ve been surprised at the level of traction even in wet conditions. Because of the size and weight you almost have to provoke it to make it slide properly |
