Status 047?

I placed an order with a dealer who said they have an allocation for an m3. I got the order confirmation today and it says status "047 - spec released. No quota". When I search the forums regarding status 047 it looks like that means there's not an actual allocation yet? Anyone know does that mean the dealer could have misled me about there being an allocation? Which would be a bummer since I put down a deposit. Or do all orders go into 047 briefly?

Status 047 is the order bank. If the dealer had an allocation, you would have went in at 111 (or 112 if it was an older allocation).

Do you have a production number? If so, have you added it to your My BMW garage?

If it is in 047, it will not have an associated production number yet.

Yeah no production number. Dang, they said they have an allocation. Hopefully it switches over soon, if not I'll ask what the issue is

They should be able to provide a production number if they have an allocation. I’d give it 48 hours and ask what gives.

If u went with Patrick BMW, Im sorry but you got their classic bait and switch!!! Did that to me and ran my credit only to come back and say there r 5 people ahead of me in the order bank. You should call the CA up tomorrow and ask him what is the production number

Yeah pretty sure I got duped. Dealer still insisting they have an allocation but won't get a production number until the car is assigned a production week. 🤦*♂️

Was it Orland Park BMW? I have been on the Orland Park wait list for about 5 months now... and was told "you are next" before I put my deposit down....hahaha

I would try to get on a few wait lists; I feel like some people are dropping off the list as their allocation was received elsewhere or people are just getting off because we are "nearing a recession"

That's what I did. I was on 4 lists when I started my search in May. When I finally got my allocation 2 weeks ago, it was only because two people in front of me dropped off leaving it for me.

Orland Park is the WORST. I had issues with them way back in 2019 when ordering my X5 and they were trying to play games so I pulled my deposit. My friend ordered an X3 from there and had such a hard time dealing with their games as well. I don't know how they continue to stay in business with those shady ass practices.

This is what I plan on doing. I'll call around. Not sure what's going to happen to the deposit I put down at the original dealer though.

Most Dealers are refundable; I really hope that is the case with yours.

In Illinois the deposit is refundable by law.

Sounds like you are being strung along

Get your money back while you can and find a better dealer. I ordered mine in January 2022 and was 047 status until September when I got my production number

I would get the deposit back and start reaching out to other dealers. There are plenty of dealers in the MidWest who treat their customers far better.

Thanks everyone this has been super helpful.

I've started reaching out to other dealers. For people who are in the order bank/waitlist at multiple places, does that mean you've also had to put down deposits at all those places?

I'm thinking I might as well keep my spot at the first place, even though it seems like they weren't very forthcoming about their allocation. I'd still like to get my name on the list at other places but it seems like everyone wants deposits.

Man what a game this turns into. Just let me buy the car haha. I don't even mind waiting, I was just hoping to get a MY23 for the 50th anniversary piece of it, but with the way things are looking I don't think it's going to happen.

Status 047?

I was on several waitlists. A few asked for deposits, but I pushed back.

My pitch was this….first dealership with an allocation/production number gets my business. Then I'd be happy to give them a big fat deposit. My strategy worked and I had 4 allocations to choose from. I went with the dealer I've bought my previous car from. They didn't even want a deposit then.

Good luck!

Go back to the dealer and tell them you want the production number, as they said they had an allocation. When they say they don't have one, demand your deposit back and tell them they can have the deposit when they have an allocation. Don't let them bullshit you.
