Question In a non covid world, what would you trade in ur g80/g82 for and why?

Let's say everythings back to normal. All the cars in current productions are available, including ct blackwing and z06, and you only have to pay msrp for them.

For current owners of g80/g82 (not the ones waiting) what would you trade in your car for and why?

I got exactly the car I wanted. For the price, there is nothing I would trade it for.

I'm not gonna lie g82 was my 2nd choice next to the z06 but there's no way in the world I'm paying 20-30k over sticker which is what they'll be demanding when they do come out. My local dealership had no interest in even starting a list, mgr told me it's going to the highest bidder.

I spec'ed my car exactly how I wanted. Blackwing, Z06, etc. are all cool but I wanted a G80.

Nothing at this price interests me like the M3. All things being equal, I wouldn't trade it.

Not sure I understand the premise of this question. Z06 queues are very long because it's a halo product in limited volumes and there's a lot of pent-up demand for it. Covid may be delaying certain things with certain models, but every new Corvette generation / Z06 has a wait-list in the first ~year. I'm not even sure that Chevy would want to increase production dramatically even if they could; the wait-lists may frustrate buyers (and dealers), but it also builds up word-of-mouth advertising and exclusivity. Exotic makers like Ferrari have known this for decades, and basically get to hand-pick their customers for their halo cars. I'm not suggesting that Chevy's in the same spot, but they don't mind if there's excess customer demand for a model from time to time.

I'm better a large number of G80/82 customers -- especially first-year customers who are active on these boards (i.e. enthusiasts almost by definition) -- are going to say they would have chosen the same car again for similar reasons.

New version of a black holed thread, I’ll bite this time.

Nothing, I wanted a manual sport sedan with a nice interior and here we are.

I wanted to drive a BlackWing car but as far as I know, they are unobtanium due to the short initial production run.

I did not know that about the blackwing. What a shame.

At this point in time there’s no other vehicle I would rather have than the M3 except for perhaps the M5.

I don't know that I would trade it. I'm very happy with the overall package. I'm not, as I sit here, coming up with an alternative that I'm that interested in (for the same price).

You can order a plaid for MSRP and get it within a month. My brother got one last month. Took less than 4 weeks. That's one of the easiest cars to get quickly these days and there is no markup.

I would be tempted by an RS6 Avant if I could get one but I don't think it would actually give me that much more space for a growing family. I might actually do it at some stage but I really like the new Land Rover Defender P400. A guy in my building has a highly optioned one and the thing is amazing, has crazy presence and the reviews have been very good on it

So much cooler than another boring Range Rover

I'll stick with he M3 as long as I can. I kind of bought it as I knew with young kids it'd be my last fast sedan before I inevitably had to get an SUV

z06 isn't even out yet so can't see how that applies to the question of "today".

If a blackwing was available at MSRP today, i wouldn't even exist on this forum.

If a C8 stingray was available at MSRP today, i wouldn't even exist on this forum.

If hellcats weren't theft prone in my area, and i could actually get one today if i wanted, i wouldn't even exist on this forum.

I'm a V8 guy at heart (mainly corvettes or anything GM LS/LT based) so that's my top choice.

I only decided on the M3 because it was an addition to what i have now, it didn't replace any car. Plus i wanted to try out an M car before they go hybrid/EV in the next gen. I think i waited for the right time, the right gen, and the right model to finally jump on board.

Don't have a G80 M3 myself, just got my M2C in August and I will be selling it within the next few months and just waiting it out for a G80 M3 w/ Xdrive. It's staying in the garage anyway during the winter, so I'm hoping I can walk away with what I paid for it, I'll be happy with that.

My heart wanted the M2 as it reminded me of my E46 M3, but the practically of the M3 for my life currently is what I should have gone for.

This whole market is cool and whack at the same time.

I've heard so many stories of people driving a car for 7-8 months and walking away even or even making a profit.

For a car enthusiast, I suppose many are enjoying this. You get to drive different cars and not lose your ass within a year... however, for the everyday car shopper, it must suck.

In the same price range there is really nothing else. When I knew what grilles were probably coming I was actually going to go get the new updated AMG c63 coupe but that car never came into existence in the US so back to BMW it was. In the end I actually don't mind the grilles. I am in the process of getting aid 2023 M8 when they finally come out but it's an entirely different price range from this car and likely wouldn't be getting it if it wasn't for the positive equity I can get out of to my M4 or if they hadn't come down $20,000+ in price.

I ordered exactly what I wanted, for the price. I've always wanted an M car. I had my eyes on the E92, and the F82 when they both came out, but they were some of the slower cars in their class. When the xDrive was announced, I knew I had to be on board, this time.

Sure, I want a Plaid. After seeing a few of them, the lack of attention to detail, would keep me from ever getting one. I also wanted a 911 922. But I would never go for one unless it was loaded with everything I wanted, and specd the way I like it, they were $175K. My car, fully specd the way I wanted it, was $103k. I just couldn't justify the price difference. Sure it a 911, but really.

I guess I’m a life-long BMW driver, so I doubt I’d have chosen anything other than what I did. But if the M3/M4 didn’t exist in AWD form, I might scratch an itch and go for a 911 Carrera 4S.

The M3 has been a 20+ year dream car in the making for me. Now that I'm finally in a position to be able to get one, there is nothing in this segment that I would get instead. Especially with there being a chance that this is the last full ICE M3.

Current G80 owner here... the G80 was always my "safe" bet and, honestly, it makes the most sense for my needs/wants at the moment. However, my original plan, before all prices shot up on everything in the used market, was to get one of the following: a 991.2 911 Carrera T, gated 6mt R8, 997.1 GT3, 981 GT4 or order a new 718 GTS 4.0. That said, any of those would have been harder to live with day-to-day, without also getting another daily driver; especially the 997.1 GT3. I daily drove my previous 981 Cayman for 2 years with no issues but I'd prefer to limit winter driving on one of those cars, especially if I were to keep it long term.
