Kith is not new school, its a dying brand

Now a collab with Thom Browne would be fire, both uses stripes, both are luxurious premium brands, business casual
Those would be dope but imagine the markup on a Dior M4 Comp Limited Edition

I think BMW is looking to market itself as a futuristic, sporty, fun looking brand and leaving the more mature luxurious look to Porsche & Benz

I personally like the approach but I see your point
Seeing as the Dior Jordan's resell for $10k-12k a pair, I'd imagine far too much!

Chances are, someone here reading this forum agreed to buy a M4 with a $40k sticker on the roof.

Come clean, who is it??

lol putting a deposit down doesn't mean they are going to buy it, it's refundable, pretty sure more than half won't go through with it

I went to www.kith.com and KITH has an extensive premium clothing line all dedicated to BMW Motorsport. I wonder if AMG, Audi or Porsche will follow this direction in clothing and car design.

Kith overall is pretty legit. I was hoping for a version more aligned with his E30 rendition. The decal kills it for me.

I wonder if he was really in charge of the car collab because it seems so dissonant with the rest of the collection (and his very nice understated E30). But i think the color scheme of the car is pretty good, especially the interior.

On the part of BMW i think it's a huge mistake to bastardize your logo and your visual brand identity like that. It's advertising and branding 101, really.
Slapping your brand name on everyday items is not designing.
So you're not willing to give him credit for selecting the garment materials, designing the cut, creating graphics and color selection and blocking? Or are you cherry picking the fact that out of ~100 items in the collection, he slapped the logo on coasters and coffee mugs?

Porsche have a whole line of apparel, but they keep separate from their cars. Porsche cars are desirable because of what they are technically.

I'm glad someone finally said this. If you want to collaborate with Kith and let them emboss 5000 instances of the name into the seats, or do a special "Ba da da da da I'm lovin' it" M-cDonalds red & yellow X1, that's one thing. But never, ever bastardize your logo (perfect word, Darth One). The prestige and image that comes with the M Division's "M" logo has taken almost 50 years to cultivate. Creating M Performance variants weakens it enough already, but to now swap someone else's brand name into the logo is unjustifiable. BMW apparently forgot how many tens of thousands of hours drivers had to spend on the track, and the work that so many great engineers had to put in, for the "M" logo to have the meaning it has today. Whomever made the final call to allow that to happen shouldn't even be given a box to collect their belongings, they should be walked out of the building with a cordial "don't worry, we'll clean out your desk and send it to you."

To be clear, my comment has nothing to do with this car or this collaboration. It's about your brand - it takes decades to build a brand, but you can kill one in minutes.
I'm glad it made sense. I'm in Brand management and work for a company who's probably spent as much as BMW over the years to build a brand (for a global brand this is easily in the hundreds of millions over the years), and the visuals are just central to the whole thing. Like, we don't allow deviations from the correct font, size, even the colors need to be a precise Pantone shade. All companies with globally recognizable brands hold these things sacred. I guess that's why I was somewhat horrified to see what they've done here 😅

Erik Wensberg was the guy who made ///M brand famous in America by making special editions like E36 M3 LTW (lightweight). I had the pleasure to meet him in person and listen to his amazing challenging stories.

And now in 2020, we see this shit.
Upholstery is fine...but what is this Kith written all over the car.

Damn a LOT of old geezers on here that probably sit in the “husband chair” at Nordstrom and have their wife shop for them because they have no fashion sense whatsoever. You’re all incredibly out of touch 40-55 year olds and it shows.

Looks exactly like a guy named Kith paid a fortune to have his name all over the car...
I guess that everyone will ask the owner who is Kith...?

///KITH?!?!?! REALLY?!?!?!

This is a sad mother effin' day in history of M. I worked at BMW AG for many years and to touch something as sacred as the M logo...well, things must be very desperate there.

Porsche already has high end clothing, watches and other apparel through PORSCHE DESIGN. I don’t think Audi or Mercedes do but could just be I don’t know.

Maybe, since Bugatti already made an Hermes version!
