Dayum...guess the deep state plan of ultimately getting rid of cars is in full motion. 😂 I'm fortunate enough that I can afford an M3, but not a shot in hell I'm spending ~$100k on one. Can't stand ID8, too, so perhaps a used one is how I'd go anyway. Crazy, expensive times we live in.

I think you’re even being reasonable. I just went to a mid-tier steak house (Bergen County NJ) and it was $90 for a filet entree and just ONE Jack on rocks! Isn’t fast food like $50 for a family of four?

Agreed. And any reply to your comment is going to derail this discussion.

yep. and for cities like chicago that rape you with extra lease taxes, the Select plan avoids that and gives the city the middle finger.

I have a MY22 with less than 2800 miles (need to drive it more) xdrive comp. I was debating getting the LCi with maybe an individual color and/or manual, but the new prices and rates just don't make it worthwhile to me.. and some would argue they would prefer idrive 7.

sucks. If LCI looks really good I might do it anyway but otherwise this one is a keeper.

Inflation pricing just makes the pill harder for those to swallow waiting for an allocation... My build used to be 87 for a 6MT with an indiv color but now is much closer to 94...

Actually, it's the other way around. But either way, everything now costs a shit-ton more, thanks to Uncle Joe's economy. And, the Fed says it ain't done with the rate hikes yet. Craptastic, man.

People seem to forget that inflation started taking off during the pandemic die to lockdowns crippling supply chains meaning demand outstripped supply. This was compounded by the government support plans which in the UK cost £400 billion. Henve we ended up with something like $1 trillion in household savings in the USA feeding through to more demand. In the UK consumer spending is still way up.

This was then compounded by the war and worker shortages leading to tight economies

Go figure.

I did select financing on my M3 back in November of 2021. My balloon payment at the end of the initial loan term is set for just a little over $37k.
The biggest problem / overlooked aspect of Select is the ammortization.

Because you make 0 payments toward principal on the balloon portion, you are paying interest on that full amount every month for 5 years.

After that 60mo, you will have paid more $ in interest compared to traditional financing at the same rate. Can easily be the difference of a couple grand.

Maybe they looked at the hilarious approach of the competition (hint: AMG C63S E Perf.) and thought: Easy - we can up G8x prices ... there is no competition now and in the near future anyhow

Literally every mfg is doing this right now. My 22 Boxster stickered like 78k and would be over 85k now. 911s have inflated much worse and there’s a rumored new price increase coming soon from Porsche.

911 used to be the affordable dream car but they’re quickly approaching other exotic prices now

My build on M3x now comes to $88K... not much different with another $1700... the increase makes sense given the demand but ultimately the real question is, is an M3 worth $90k? not sure about that...

Try buying a comparable sorts car with 500 HP. So definitely worth the sticker IMO

Corvette C8 immediately comes to mind - not the same class... but does come with a V8 and a DCT...

You have to remember, the M3 is in effect built on the same car as a 340i with the exact same tranny even... so $30K somehow goes into a different suspension and an S58 motor... BMW knows how make money here because the margins must be high.

They weren't even available on all '23s (including my April 10th build). They were available for builds from March '22 to Feb '23.
