Comfort Access intermittent
Hi,
Apologies if this was addressed already. With the car key in my pocket (along my iphone) i often find myself having to pull the door handle multiple times or push the trunk button 2-3 times (same with the automatic closing). This is my 3rd BMW and this was never an issue before. Not the remote battery - changed that. Could it be a broken antenna/receiver or is this just how it is? I will address it with the dealer at the break in service in a few hundred miles but was wondering if others had this issue and how they addressed it? Thanks |

Keep it away from the phone otherwise it interferes. I did notice it is more finicky than on the F30.

This happens on my G82 off and on. Have to grab and let go of the handle a few times. Sometimes the window doesn't drop that inch when it opens and closes. I've reset it several times.

I can almost guarantee your phone is either 100% the problem or at least making it worse. I have noticed that every time my phone is in the same pocket at my key the car won’t lock as I walk away or unlock as I walk towards it. If I keep my phone in the opposite pocket however, everything works as it should. Give it a shot.

There's also something I read (but of course I can't remember where I read this) - perhaps it was buried somewhere in the owner's manual - that the trunk goes to sleep after being parked for a certain period of time...and I've found that if I don't drive my G80 for a few days and then go in the garage to wake her up and go for a drive, I need to press the power trunk button twice. The first time some lights turn on and it seems to wake up - the second time it opens the power trunk.
Haven't noticed that with the door handles. But as others have said above, I have noticed that if the key fob is in a bag, near my iphones, the car sometimes doesn't lock/unlock based on my walking up to it or walking away. In an empty pocket however, the fob always seems to work. |

Also they did change the position of the touch sensor for opening the door from previous models. I took me a while to get it as well. Looking it up in the manual made me realize my mistake. It is on the inside which is why a full grip works, but not necessary if you know where the sensor is.

Since I don't have mine yet, allow me to ask a dumb question. The remote has lock and unlock buttons, yes? My Sierra and Blackwing have a similar open function without taking the keys out, and both are flawless (not much time with the Wing, but works ever time so far). You get used to that convenience, but maybe it is easier on the M to use the remote.

As others have said, when my phone is in the same pocket it really messes with the comfort access. I also have a ridge wallet that is metal and will do the same as the phone. No issues when I keep the keys separate.

The thing that irritates me more is the window not dropping down an inch when opening or closing. I don't have an iPhone and the full grip didn't do much. May have the dealer take a look.

Unlock glitches is one thing, window dropping another. I would for sure take it to the dealer as something seems not to be fully right…you may risk braking your window that way.

Ok thanks for all the replies.
Seems like the consensus is that the phone interferes with the wireless signal. It's a shame though. Worked flawlessly on my other BMWs. 2016 328 and 2019 M2C. "New is always better" 🤣😅 |

I'm experiencing intermittent issues with the trunk's lock button not responding when attempting to close the trunk and lock the vehicle. Just about every morning I drive 5 miles, exit the car and get something out of the trunk, and press the lock button. About once every 3-4 times the button doesn't respond. I can press the unlock button on my key fob, awaken the trunk (license plate lights turn on), and the lock button responds, reliably. Or I can close the trunk without locking and lock the vehicle at the door handle or with the key fob.
First world problem, I know, but another one of those German gremlins ... |

The only 'issue' I have had is if I leave the car for a few days the touchless entry doesn't work when I approach the car. Once I have used the handle to unlock it, it then works fine. I'm guessing the car goes into a deeper sleep after a while and is no longer checking for a wireless only signal.
