Most dealers are clueless and don’t bother to take the time to investigate.

They used to actively advertise it and even had an app for it, I downloaded it back in 2012 in my iPad and still have it hah.

After E chassis they started not advertising it and the app didn’t have nearly as much creative stuff that you could get. And you’re right, I spoke with a dealer back in 2015 and they basically eluded to it “not being a big thing anymore” and I knew that was bullshit.

Personally I think they realized that if you just slap M shit on standard cars that satisfied a large majority of the market unfortunately. When you can mass produce “m shadow line” shit and put it on nearly any car they didn’t care to market the individual experience anymore.

Yeah, true. They definitely don’t advertise the Manufaktur portion much at all and make the catalog of materials hard to find/obtain. This G generation they are sure marketing the individual color program though. Guess they figured it was a good way to get the extra revenue for not a whole or of extra overhead and time relatively speaking.

Agreed.

I think it’s insanely worth it personally. People always tell me to get a wrap….but crack open a door or a hood and you instantly realize it’s just a wrap….no thanks 🤮

That is a steal, the R&D cost to do a new, never been done, paint to sample with Porsche is $25,000, regular paint to sample is $13,500. Really glad I could still order my preferred color as a "standard metallic" when I ordered my Taycan (Mamba Green). May need to consider doing the BMW Individual next time I order one.

Agree completely. After having gone for an individual color for the first time on my G80 and now having ordered an X5 in an individual color, I’m not sure I’ll ever not get an individual color on a BMW again.

No strings really, it's part of the individual program, they can take any paint from any manufacturer as long as your provide paint code and if bmw thinks they can make it look good on a bmw they'll paint it. Cost is 5k usd for any color you want. You just have to find a dealer that can order you what you want and is willing to put the time and effort in (which most aren't, primarily because they don't want to get stuck with odd spec cars if you bail on it)

Many posts of asked, and I will do so again, what was the process? How do you create a color? And what is the price estimate? Not that I would ever do this, but I’m just curious. are we talking about $10,000 or $50,000? Congrats on loving your car. May you have it as long as you want it.
You don't create a color you rip it off from another manufacturer cost is 5k for all individual paint.

Right... at 100k plus 500 makes a huge difference😂😂 but good point I'm talking from the perspective of an m5 so I'm giving m5 prices.

No I saw just don't have experience buying smaller bmws. But again at these price points I don't think 500$ is a deal breaker. The process of ordering and stuff is still the same though

The original RUBYSTAR that Porsche used in the 70's was the darker one. The NEO has slid onto the pinker side.

The hoops I had to jump through to get my seats done was a long an arduous process, with 2 major east coast dealers having no clue how to properly execute the requests. It took me convincing Individual NA, for them to convince BMW AG to make it happen. And one of the requests (wrapped center console) was denied even though it's on the european Manufaktur catalog for the G20.

They need to follow Porsche's lead with special order stuff - offer it up for the price that makes it worthwhile and let people order what they want.

It's not a cs, it's a full individual build because that's what I wanted keyword here "individual" but I'm sure you have plenty of 1 of 1 cars yourself so there's that.

Also, it’s got nothing to do with the cost of the vehicle, people come here for factual information, not guesstimates.

To be fair, micvite does know what he's talking about when it comes to true Individual Manufaktur. I tried to help him secure a super exclusive option for his car with NA and they more/less said good luck they can't help go to Germany
