You can get spare ECU all you want but BMW tracks tunes in multiple locations. if you don't think the iDrive interface tracks boost etc. which can also be used to see if your car has a tune than you will have a suprise when something happens.

Maybe you guys forgot the S58 was in the X3/4 M. Don't know how different the ECU is from that platform, but I'm not surprised they got it available for the G8x.
Catless downpipe and BM3 tune, at the time, made the X3M wicked fast.

What I am saying is if one does not drive around like an idiot and is hyper vigilant with a strong maintenance routine, a modded car with bolt ons and tune doesn't have to be like Russian roulette. I know lots of folks that break stock cars, while I have zero problems because I take care of my cars and I hire tuners that know what they are doing and are transparent about the risk. It is an age old discussion that always gives me entertainment. Guess that is a personal problem of mine... haha! |

You'll need to bench unlock and load the old boot loader for you to flash via OBD2.

I’m in the somewhat skeptical camp here. It took years for the Bosch ECU’s on the Audi B9 platform to be cracked and while reading up on that topic it seems like there are a handful of folks out there with the tools and skill set to work on cracking the encryption who then farm it out to all of the tuners. That’s why we usually see several tunes out within months of each other once the ECUs are cracked. Maybe Mission is one of that select group, or maybe it’s different now.
Either way the “we cracked it but you can’t have it yet” is a little sketch to me. While I’m still waiting on my G80, this might be the first car in a long time that I don’t tune. Between the hardcore stance the manufacturers are taking to thwart tuning and the fact that I can’t use anywhere near the stock HP on the street, I don’t really see the point. It’s one of the reasons I opted for the 6MT, I get some involvement in driving at any speed. I’m all for choices and it’s potentially good news for anyone who really wants to tune and is fine with the potential risks, I just think for the first time in almost 20 years I’m gonna pass on ECU tuning/piggybacks for more power. |

not to be a critic here, but I'm pretty well informed, and "having" a solution, but not sharing it,
1) makes no sense. 2) posting about it and putting your name on the forum, while BOSCH / BMW are certainly reading along, is even more stupid 3) either you monitize it, or you remain silent 4) is 99,9% sure bs

As long as can Jb4 is we are good. 500 bucks for a tune and 125 for muffler delete. Easy 200hp gains less back pressure and better exhaust note. Plus the tune can calibrate for it and add more boost.
