If this is the case, it would suck as I am still waiting on my 2022MY allocation for M3Cx... but it will make my decision easier as I am debating between the bucket and standard seats... I just hope they don't cancel the full leather option - now that would be bad...

Yikes. These supply chains are a mess. Not sure I’d want to compromise on full leather.

Many people are reporting that the carbon bucket seats slows down their production schedule. First I've heard about full leather. I would press him on the full leather part.

I've heard of people reporting that carbon buckets have slowed down production, but I believe that has been disproven by others in the same timeframe who have not experienced. Could be wrong though! It seems there is a lot of rumours/contradicting information floating around with no real hard basis.

I wish I got the carbon seats on my M3. I opted not to for daily comfort but this is looking like a more spirited car and I regret opting out.

On the other hand there like 4K build option BUT I had my buddy at the dealership price them out to purchase separately.... 34k for these bad boys! What a joke. [IMG][/IMG]

Will be really interesting to see how the 2022 models go.

I had a 2021 all set for a build date of this month but with the switch to individual I'm now stuck with having to wait for a 2022 model. If they cancel carbon buckets and full leather I'll cancel my order. This will be my first M3 (been wanting one every since my first BMW 20 years ago) and I do not want to compromise on options on bit. If necessary to get all the options I want, I'll just wait until 2023 models and the LCI.

Yea, definitely don't compromise, especially on an Individual build like yours. Great choice on Twilight Purple, what interior did you go with?

I'm going with Silverstone since I want the carbon buckets. Had Tartufo been available with the buckets, I would likely go with that instead.

Very cool. Similar combo to my E36 M3

I had a May build date and then switched my spec to full leather and carbon exterior package. When I did that my build date recalculated to end of June. I then changed it once more to carbon buckets and the date remained unchanged. I'm willing to wait 4 more weeks to get what I want but I'm not going to be happy if configuration choices are simply cancelled off my order.

Is there a process around this sort of thing? How are buyers notified and does the conversation consider options (e.g. wait x weeks and you'll get what you want Vs. here's what you can have now because we don't have this or that).

Yes. Been sitting in "order received" for a few weeks which doesn't surprise me due to the 4 week shift in build date.

I ordered mine with the carbon bucket seats on 18Dec20. The vehicle I ordered (M4 competition coupe) is built and ready to be shipped. At this time I'm still waiting for the vehicle to be allocated a shipper from Germany to USA. And that has been for close to 8 weeks at this time (23May21). I'm not sure why this is happening. I've heard there is a shortage of shipping vessels available for any vehicle being shipped to the USA from Germany.

So your car has been sitting at the port for 8 weeks?

Not really. I suspect it's not at the port. It's waiting to be shipped via rail car to the port. But before that can happen, BMW needs to have a carrier allocated to ship the many cars to the USA. Once allocated they will transfer the vehicle via rail to the port. There seems to be a shortage of carriers at this time, and getting a shipping company to reply to an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) may take up to 6-8weeks. I'm a former USA Automotive Engineer and I remember that there were numerous offsite parking lots which held many vehicles until they were ready for shipment. This is a logistics supply chain issue mostly, not a production issue. The problem I see is that BMW has a considerable amount of money tied up with each vehicle they've built. It could be they (BMW) may need to postpone production of other vehicles until this logistics issue(s) gets resolved.
