Xpel XR Plus or XR Black for IOMG
My IOMG G80 is coming next week (finally)!
Unfortunately I'm color blind, and could use some guidance. I'm getting 15% tint on all 4 windows + rear, but Xpel has their XR Plus and XR Black. The XR Plus has better heat resistance and is supposed to be clearer. However, the Plus has a faint blue/rainbow hue which I noticed it in my X6 when it was sunny. For those familiar with this slight blue on the XR Plus, do you think it will look good with the IOMG? It is a Competition, so everything is shadowline. |

Hey,
I had XR Plus on 2020 M4 and was very happy with heat rejection, but was very unhappy with haze effect showing up at full sun when not in zenith. It was something I discovered and investigated with authorized dealer and manufacturer 3-4 years ago. Xpel itself did agree to us in some applications depends on the window angle and sun level this issue can show up. Im in Colorado and problem is only when strong sun hits your car. When its cloudy etc no problem at all. Installer made few more cars and stoped offering XR Plus as it showed up on all of them. September last year I asked did anything changed with XR Plus and dealer said nope, still same haze issue. Therefore for my new M4 I went with one step lower Xpel tint (forgot the class, will add later), 20% all around and front 70 or 80%; I forgot. Very happy still with heat rejection. Makes big difference when you have film on all windows. |

I have XR black and sometimes I notice the rainbow coloring as well. It’s in really particular lighting so I usually never see it. I’m assuming it’s more noticeable on XR plus. My tint doesn’t appear to have a blue hue though, that’s the main reason I chose XR black.

Here’s my IOMG with 20% Xpel Prime XR Plus all around and 70% on the windshield. I haven’t noticed any rainbowing, hazing or blue hues at all.

I have 45 percent XR black and love it. No haze or odd reflections that I can see.

No issues at all. For me or in my wife car. What I recognized is that % is one thing but brand is also important. Xpel I think has one of the better if not the best view transprency from inside. Drove with my friend car with 3M and felt like in coffin.
