What is your advice on new 2024 M4 or used 2023 M4

Hey guys I have been looking to buy an M4 New or Almost New. I see

the price difference is not much about 5k. I want a G82 X-Drive and I

called allot of dealerships and the most they discount is 1k to 2k off of

MSRP, I am not sure if that's good or not for a new 2024 or less then 5k

miles 2023. What do you all Recommend. I live in Tampabay Florida and

there is no G82 X-Drives around here for sale.

Some my inside, my own opinion:
A lot of friends would tell me how much new car is loosing the value but…

1. As you said, new or 1 year car is only 5k cheaper therefor for me its not worth it.
2. Always was able to negotiate better discounts, extra dealership service (tint, ppf etc.) for new car
3. When taking a loan, i would always have better APR, overall loan cost lower then for used CPA
4. I can configure as I want what I want
5. Smell of new car :-)
6. First owner, who know how used one was driven during break in period.

Only cons would be… wait time! This is why some of those prices are so close … you pay for getting it from the parking lot.

Above is only my opinion based on last 4 bmws bought for me or my wife. Often was looking to buy 1-2 year old car but … all was ending up with new.

Interesting you cannot get the xdrive in Florida. I get the weather aspect … but xdrive on a dry is still killer over rwd. So do not give up on xdrive… launch is memorising … especially when you will tune it later…

Me who just reached 0-60 in 2.74s two days ago

One thing to consider is '23 G82 has iDrive 7 (older interior) and the '24 G82 has iDrive 8 (newer interior)

Other than that, the car, configuration and ability-wise, is pretty similar between the two years.

If the difference is only about $5k near you, I'd just order a new one. You can get the exact colors and packages you want.

Germain BMW in Naples has 2 2024 M4 Competition XDrive’s available. IOMG and white. They anlso have a used 2024 in Dravit Grey. They are a nice dealership to deal with and an easy drive from Tampa. Good luck.

You're in Florida how often do you plan to drive in snow? Just get a RWD version you'll be fine.

M-xDrive isn’t designed to be driven in snow, it’s designed for traction in ALL conditions. xDrive is great in FL for the rain we get like 5 months a year.

Yup. Houston here so same garbage weather and roads as you. I drove a few Comp RWD's and I'm not a fan of the traction challenges. There are people who like the playful nature of a tail-happy RWD 500 HP plus car. I'm not one of them. But if you like that, it's not like the RWD is undrivable or anything.

But as you said, we don't get rain. We get biblical downpours. It's nice not to have to worry about that.

It also makes little sense to me to specifically not get xDrive when you can just...put the car into 2WD mode anyway.

Fair point. Counterpoint: some people have said you CAN tell the difference in steering feel between the RWD and the xD in RWD mode. There is also added weight and cost. And not having to have a mode that keeps traction control off with RWD. So there is a reason to do it.

I agree with you, though, that there is little reason to do it, and it seems as if the resale market agrees with you and I. The costs are minor, the benefits are large. But....to each their own. .

Yeah I'll give you the weight, but I think people claiming there's any sort of mechanical/drive style difference is just trying to justify their non-xD purchase.
